  • 8 "5-star" tokens
  • 80 illustrated cards
  • 1 hourglass
  • 1 Action token

Overview and goal of the game

Each team must answer the set of questions corresponding to their illustrated card to win stars. At the end of each set there will be a bonus question for all teams. By the end of three rounds, the team with the most stars will win the game.

Setup

  1. Form two or three balanced teams depending on the player count (a team can consist of one player).
  2. Each team chooses a color and takes the corresponding Team token.
  3. Shuffle the illustrated cards and place them face down in the middle of the table.
  4. Place the hourglass, Star tokens and fan on the table, so that everyone can reach them.
  5. Place the Action token in the middle of the table.

How to play

A game of Mr Troove is played in three rounds. During a round, each team has 1 minute to answer five questions. At the end of each set of questions a bonus question will be asked to all teams. The starting team is chosen at random.

1. Answer the set of five questions

An opponent takes the fan and selects the set of questions associated with the number on the first illustrated card of the deck. They will only ask the questions marked with the color of the active team. The last question, under the frame, is the bonus question for all players (see 2. Answer the bonus question).

Example: The number on the illustrated card is 26. The active team is red, so Maxime looks for the 26th card of the fan and asks the red marked questions.

When the active team is ready, they flip the illustrated card and the hourglass. The player that has the fan will then read the first question.

For an answer to be correct, it is necessary to find the right answer and point to the corresponding reference on the card. Once the team has answered, the player asking the questions validates (or not) the answer and moves on to the next.

Note: for movie sagas such as Star Wars or James Bond, it is enough to give the general title of the saga without having to name the specific movie.

Careful: You can only give one answer per question. If there is more than one player on the team, they must confer before giving their answer. Teams are allowed to ignore a question and come back to it later if they want to.

At the end of the five questions, or when the hourglass has run out, the active team receives one star per correct answer (5-stars tokens are there for change).

2. Answer the bonus question

Once the set of questions is finished, the player with the fan will ask the bonus question (last question under the colored frame) to ALL other players, including those in their team, if there are any. The first player that hits the Action token and gives the right answer earns their team a star.

3. A new turn

The active card is discarded and the turn goes to the next team in a clockwise direction. Now it's their turn to answer a set of questions from a new card.

End of the game

Once each team has answered 3 sets of questions, the game ends. The team with the most stars wins the game!

In case of a tie, choose a player (that doesn't belong to one of the tied teams, if possible) to ask a bonus question at random from the fan. The tied team with the first player that finds the right answer will win the game.

2 and 3-player games

The rules are the same, but the bonus question is only asked to the opponents.

Expert mode

In this mode you will have to answer with the complete title of each movie, even if they belong to a saga.

Note: If you doubt about a card's reference you will find all of them in our website: www.gigamic.com/jeu/mrtroove. Use it only in case of an emergency!
