Game Idea
Your racing cars are engaged in a competition. How far a player can move his racing car is determined by the colors of the traffic light card, which he has just drawn from the pile. In order to move his racing car, one of the three colors of the traffic light card has to coincide with one of the two colors shown on the track card in front of his racing car.
Hints
- The fewer track cards you use, the quicker you reach the target.
- The game gets easier if you don't use any obstacle cards with the oil stain.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever is best at imitating the noise of a racing car starts. If you cannot agree, the youngest player starts. He draws a traffic light card from the provision pile and places it face-up in front of him.
Do any colors coincide?
- No? Pity! Your turn unfortunately is over. Discard your traffic light card face-up. (The traffic light cards are placed face-up in a discard pile.)
- Yes? Great! For each corresponding color you can move your racing car onto the corresponding lane of the next track card. You can change lanes at any time. If you are lucky and think carefully, you might be able to move your car forward up to three track cards. Then place your traffic light card face-up on the discard pile.
Important Racing Driver Rules
- You may use the colors of your traffic light cards only once in each turn.
- Some traffic light cards show a circle with all six colors. In this case you can choose any color to move your car.
- The obstacle squares showing an oil stain may not be entered.
- When it's your turn you can move your car over lanes with other racing cars on it. That means you have overtaken them.
- There can be up to three racing cars on one lane at any time.
Variation for Professional Racing Drivers
The rules of the basic game apply, except for the following rules:
- At the beginning each player receives three traffic light cards and takes them into his hand.
- When it's your turn, you choose one of them and move your racing car ahead correspondingly. Then you put the card on the discard pile and draw a new card.
Editor's note: the German section of the same manual (page 8) adds one further sentence to this variation that does not appear in the English text: "If you have no matching traffic light card in your hand, you place all three on the discard pile and draw three new cards." The English text above is transcribed as printed; this sentence is reproduced here from the German section for completeness and has not been confirmed against the English print.
