Adding Nergigante to Your Campaign
Monster Hunter World: The Board Game – Nergigante, known as the Nergigante set, can be played with both Monster Hunter World: The Board Game – The Ancient Forest and Monster Hunter World: The Board Game – The Wildspire Waste, known as the Ancient Forest set and the Wildspire Waste set.
This gives hunters a terrifying new monster to hunt, and equipment to forge!
If you choose to include Nergigante in your campaign the Nergigante quest becomes the final quest you must successfully complete to win your campaign.
If including Nergigante in your Ancient Forest set campaign or Wildspire Waste set campaign, follow the below steps in order:
- Add 5 days to your campaign timer.
- When you've completed your first quest, Great Jagras or Barroth, you may select the assigned quest for Nergigante. Though we'd recommend you don't do this till later in your campaign to avoid crushing defeat if you take on an elder dragon too early!
- Completing the assigned quest for Nergigante allows you to select the investigation quests for Nergigante.
If adding multiple monsters with [star symbol] quests to your campaign, add 5 days to your campaign timer per monster added. Additionally, it's entirely up to you which [star symbol] quest you wish to be your final quarry, so choose wisely!
Not legible: the [star symbol] is a quest-type icon printed as artwork in the booklet; the text does not name the quest type it stands for.
Rarity 5 Equipment
To slay the strongest elder dragons, you'll need even more powerful equipment.
Orange symbols are rarity 5 weapons.
Orange symbols are also rarity 5 armour.
You may be able to take on the Nergigante assigned quest, or even the investigation quest with rarity 4 weapons, but be sure to invest in some rarity 5 weapons and armour before taking on the Nergigante tempered investigation!
Nergigante Weapon Forge Reference
Each forge card lists, from left to right: the weapon's name, the resources needed to forge it (where it is not a starting weapon), and the attack cards used to build the hunter's attack deck. Numbers beside attack cards are the rarity of the cards, followed by how many of that rarity are used. Each weapon's line is marked by a weapon symbol printed as an icon on the page; the symbol is not reproduced as text. Forged weapons also show a "Remove" and an "Add" entry, transcribed as printed.

Nergigante Armour Forge Reference
Each armour card lists the parts needed to forge it, its armour and elemental resistance symbols, and any special rule or set bonus. The armour and resistance symbols are printed as icons; their values are transcribed below.
Nergigante Helm. Forged from: Nergigante Horn ×1, Nergigante Carapace ×1, Immortal Dragonscale ×2, Nergigante Gem ×1. Symbols: armour 2; elemental resistance 2 (red symbol). Special rule: Maximum Might.
Nergigante Mail. Forged from: Immortal Dragonscale ×2, Nergigante Talon ×2, Elder Dragon Bone ×2. Symbols: armour 2; elemental resistance 2 (pale blue symbol). Special rule: Agitator.
Nergigante Greaves. Forged from: Nergigante Carapace ×1, Immortal Dragonscale ×1, Nergigante Regrowth Plate ×2, Elder Dragon Blood ×2. Symbols: armour 1; elemental resistance 2 (blue symbol). Set Bonus: Nergigante Hunger. If your hunter inflicts 1 or more damage to the monster during your turn, recover 1 health.
Not legible: the booklet gives only the names of the special rules Maximum Might and Agitator. Their effect text is printed on the physical armour cards, which are not fully reproduced in this booklet.
Nergigante Special Rules
Nergigante follows all of the standard rules for quests with some exceptions, which are detailed in the special rules below. The first time you hunt Nergigante, keep these rules open to read in full. A simplified version of these special rules is included on Nergigante's physiology cards.
Setup
Before creating the monster behaviour deck in the gathering phase, remove the Nergigante Dive behaviour card and place it face up next to Nergigante's physiology card.
Gather the 12 spike tokens and place them to the side of the playing area.
Spike Tokens
Placing Spike Tokens. Each body part on Nergigante's physiology card has a spike token stash, where spike tokens assigned to that part should be placed. Each stash can hold a maximum of 3 spike tokens; don't place any spike tokens that would exceed this amount.
When a body part has no spike tokens on it, the first spike token to be placed in its spike token stash is a black spike token. Any additional spike tokens placed on that body part are white spike tokens.
When a hunter attacks a part of Nergigante without spike tokens, place 1 black spike token on that part after the attack has been resolved.
After resolving a behaviour card with the spike symbol, place 1 spike token on each body part.
Spike Token Effect. Each monster part gains +1 armour for each spike token currently in its spike token stash.
Removing Spike Tokens. When a hunter attacks a part of Nergigante with white spike tokens in its spike token stash, after the attack card is resolved, they may remove a number of white spike tokens from that part up to the [X-marked symbol] of the attack card, including any [X-marked symbol] bonuses.
Not legible: the booklet prints the [X-marked symbol] as an icon, not as a named symbol in the text.
Nergigante Dive. If Nergigante begins its turn with 6 or more spike tokens on its physiology card, resolve the Nergigante Dive behaviour card instead of drawing a behaviour card.
After resolving this behaviour card, remove all spike tokens from Nergigante's physiology card, but don't discard the Nergigante Dive behaviour card. Instead, place it face up next to the physiology card. Nergigante Dive may need to be resolved multiple times during the hunt.
Physiology Card Notes
The physiology card's Growing Armour text repeats the spike token rules above: when you attack a body part of Nergigante without spike tokens, place 1 black spike token on that part; after resolving a behaviour card with the spike symbol, place 1 spike token on each body part; and if Nergigante begins its turn with 6 or more spike tokens on its physiology card, resolve the Nergigante Dive behaviour card instead of drawing a behaviour card.
Nergigante Reward Table. The reward table is printed on the reverse of the Nergigante physiology card. Roll on this table as described in the base set's reward table rules, and check the result against the table below.
| Number Rolled | Item |
|---|---|
| 1 | Immortal Dragonscale |
| 2 | Nergigante Talon |
| 3 | Nergigante Carapace |
| 4 | Nergigante Regrowth Plate |
| 5 | Nergigante Horn |
| 6 | Nergigante Tail |
| 7 | Elder Dragon Bone |
| 8 | Elder Dragon Blood |
| 9 | Nergigante Regrowth Plate |
| 10 | Nergigante Gem |
| 11 | Elder Dragon Bone |
| 12 | Nergigante Talon |
Not legible: the reward table has a second column of part-break entries, each reading "Gain 1 in addition to Loot Table rolls if [body part] was broken during fight" (or "were broken"). In the booklet these entries are partly covered by the physiology card artwork, and the body part named in each entry cannot be read reliably, so they are not assigned to rows here. Check the physical reward table before relying on them.
Part Break Rewards. The physiology card also prints two part-break effects. Their trigger icons and numbers are artwork in the booklet and are not legible here. The printed effects are:
- Remove Horn Gouge from the behaviour deck. Shuffle discarded behaviour cards into the deck. Behaviours with [icon] have –1 [icon] rolls if [body part] was broken during fight.
- Discard the top card of the monster's behaviour deck. Behaviours with [icon] have –1 [icon] rolls if [body part] were broken during fight.
Spine Breaker Time Card
The booklet shows the Spine Breaker time card (one of the Nergigante time cards numbered 130–131) with this text: Flip your hunter token face down. Discard 1 attack card from the rightmost slot of your stamina board. Discard any number of attack cards from your hand. Draw attack cards until there are 5 cards in your hand. During the next player's turn, attack cards which inflict damage but don't have [icon] remove 1 spike token from the selected body part as if they had 1 [icon].
Not legible: the [icon] symbols in the last clause are printed as icons, and the booklet's small type is only partly legible. Check the physical card for those symbols.

When you spend a campaign day on downtime, you may choose up to 3 activities to perform. Each activity is chosen as a group and may only be completed once per day. You all perform the activity once one has been chosen.
1. Visit the Resource Centre
Each player may roll two dice and check their result on the following table.
| 2d6 Roll | Resource Gained |
|---|---|
| 2 | Carbalite Ore |
| 3 | Machalite Ore |
| 4 | Dragonite Ore |
| 5 | Fucium Ore |
| 6 | Quality Bone |
| 7 | Monster Bone Small |
| 8 | Ancient Bone |

2. Visit the Provisions Stockpile
Each player may remove any 3 common ores, bones, or hides from their character sheets to receive any 1 common ore, bone, hide or potion in return.
3. Visit the Meowscular Chef
Select one elemental type. Each hunter gains +1 resistance to the selected elemental type for the duration of the next quest.
Each player takes a token of the selected elemental type and places it on their weapon card as a reminder.
4. Visit the Handler
As a group, select a single investigation or tempered investigation quest and play it again regardless of how many times the group has already attempted the quest. The selected quest must be played next.
For example, if a group has already attempted a total of four Great Jagras investigation quests and wish to attempt a fifth, they must do so by visiting the Handler. If the group were to fail this fifth quest they could attempt it again for a sixth time, again, by visiting the Handler.
5. Pet the Poogie
Pet the Poogie; some believe this brings you luck, others believe this is a myth.
Arena Quests (Alternative Play Mode)
The booklet's arena section contains the arena quest tables below and no separate arena procedure. The set-up for an arena quest follows the arena quest rules in the base set's rulebook. Each table lists the pre-set hunter equipment for one arena quest: the weapon, helm, mail and greaves for each hunter, with the number of hunters, the potions and the Palicos given for each player count. Weapon-type symbols printed at the left of each row are not reproduced as text.
Printed as shown, not corrected: the booklet spells "Barroth Graves" (rather than "Barroth Greaves") in three rows of the Wildspire Waste assigned arena quest, and prints "Nergal Splitter" in the arena tables where the forge reference (page 15) prints "Nergal Spitter".
