Components

  • 5 Favourite tokens
  • 5 Favourite cards
  • 55 Planet cards
  • 5 alien pawns
  • 1 rulebook
  • 1 reminder token

(In the printed rulebook, a warning-sign icon marks the Favourite tokens and Favourite cards, so they are not confused with the alien pawns.)

Goal of the Game

Each player will have 2 or 3 favourite aliens during the game. The better placed an alien is at the end of the game, the more points it is worth to the players who have it as a favourite (each alien can be a favourite of several players at once). At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.

Unlike many racing games, the players do not control a single character; each player may move all of the characters!

Setup

Before your first game, place the alien pawns on their stands. Be careful not to confuse them with the Favourite tokens.

  • Shuffle, face down, the 5 tokens and the 5 Favourite cards. Deal 1 Favourite card to each player; each player turns it face up when received. Deal 1 Favourite token to each player, face down, and each player places it next to their Favourite card. The token stays hidden until the end of the game. If you play with fewer than 5 players, put the remaining tokens and Favourite cards back in the box; they will not be used.
  • Shuffle the 55 Planet cards. Deal 3 to each player.
  • Place the remaining deck of cards in the centre of the table (face down), then form the galaxy. To do this, lay 18 cards in a spiral around the deck (still face down). Then place the 5 alien pawns on the first card of the galaxy. This way, the aliens will race from planet to planet to escape the supernova (the centre).

Example game with 3 players (setup illustration).

Playing the Game

The player who makes the funniest face starts. This is the active player. Play continues clockwise.

On your turn, perform the following 2 actions, in this order:

  1. Play a card.
  2. Add a card to your hand.

1. Play a Card

There are 4 types of cards. Here is how each one works.

1.1 "2 Aliens" Card

Advance one of the two aliens shown on the card to the next free planet. An alien may thus advance several planets (several cards). Aliens cannot move backwards. Place the card on the discard pile.

Important: There can never be more than one alien on each planet (each card), except for the first card at the start of the game.

1.2 "1 Alien" Card

Choose only one of the following 2 actions:

a) Advance the alien shown to the next free planet, exactly as with a "2 Aliens" card, then discard the card;

OR

b) Add this alien to your favourites. Place the card face up next to your Favourite card. In this case, the alien does not advance.

Important: A player cannot have more than 2 Favourite cards in front of them (for a total of 3 favourites at most, counting the token received at the start of the game). If you already have 2 Favourite cards and you play this action, you must get rid of one of your Favourite cards by placing it on the discard pile. You can never get rid of your Favourite token.

1.3 "Favourite Exchange" Card

Exchange one of your Favourite cards (face up) for a Favourite card of another player. Tokens can never be exchanged. Then discard the Favourite Exchange card.

1.4 "Change of Position" Card

Exchange the position of two aliens. Caution! You may only exchange aliens between which there are no other aliens.

In other words, all planets between the two aliens being exchanged must be free. Then discard the Change of Position card.

Note: If you play this card at the start of the game while all aliens are on the same planet, the card has no effect.

2. Add a Card to Your Hand

You must have 3 cards in hand at the end of your turn. First take cards from the deck in the centre of the galaxy. When it is exhausted, the end of the game is approaching. The supernova will soon catch up with the aliens!

The game continues exactly as before, but you now take cards from the galaxy (on which the aliens are moving), starting from the centre, where your dear little creatures started.

End of the Game

The game ends immediately if either of the following 2 conditions occurs:

  • at the end of a player's turn, that player must take a Planet card occupied by an alien;
  • an alien reaches the end of the galaxy, the last card.

Scoring

Each player reveals their secret favourite (the one on the token) and scores points for each of their favourites according to the scale shown here. Position I corresponds to the alien farthest from the centre; position V to the alien closest to the centre.

I0

V-1

If a player has the same favourite several times, they score the points for that favourite as many times as it is worth.

The player who has accumulated the most points wins the game. In case of a tie among the leaders, the player holding the Favourite token with the highest value wins.

Example: Philémon has two Favourites of the yellow alien and one of the blue alien. He therefore scores 3+3+0 = 6 points. If tied with another player, he would win the game, since his Favourite token is worth the highest value (3 points).

Tip: You should not be in too much of a hurry in this game, because the alien that finishes in the lead scores no points! It had only one thing in mind, to go further than the others. It forgot to stop on the most beautiful planets.
