Assembly
- Slide the car with Mr. Monopoly onto the white rail of one of the 4 green sections of the track. Make sure the car is straight and rolls freely. Mr. Monopoly must always drive clockwise (it must be turned towards the RIGHT).
- Assemble the 4 sections of the track, like a puzzle.
- Place the game board on the track. The arrow on the Start space of the game board must line up with the arrow on the track. Fix the cardboard game board in place by inserting the 4 tabs into the 4 slots placed under the white rail.
- Slide Mr. Monopoly's car to the Start space.
- IMPORTANT: Turn the car's red steering wheel to the right so that it moves from "test" mode to "play" mode.
To hear a summary of the game rules, press the head of Mr. Monopoly for 3 seconds.
During play, when Mr. Monopoly has given an instruction, he will pause to give you time to do what he asked.
When you have done what he asked and are ready to continue, press his head.
Banker
Choose one player (preferably an adult) to be the banker. The banker looks after the money and the construction bricks.
The banker gives each player:
- 1 golden roof
- 10 construction bricks (green bricks)
- 5 roofs of the same colour (each set of coloured roofs has a spare roof)
- 6 bills of 1€
Building a Building
Each coloured space on the board has a number printed on it. It is the number of green bricks that must be stacked to build a building on that space. For example, if the space shows the number 2, 2 green bricks must be stacked on it.
-
During play, when you land on a coloured space, place ONE of your green bricks on it.
When there are as many green bricks as the number shown on the space, place one of your coloured roofs on top. This means the building belongs to you (for spaces showing the number 1, you only need to place a single green brick to own the building). From then on, whenever another player lands on this space, they must pay you rent!
-
If during the game you no longer have any green bricks, you must buy some from the banker. Each brick costs 1€.
-
Place your coloured roofs first and keep your golden roof aside until the end, because this roof is your winning piece (see the paragraph "Winning the Game").
Paying Rent
If you land on a space belonging to another player, you must pay that player rent.
The amount of rent is the same as the number of green bricks in the building. For example, if the space you land on has a building made of 3 green bricks, the rent to pay is 3€.
Playing the Game
-
The youngest player starts, and play then continues clockwise. When it is your turn, press the head of Mr. Monopoly, listen to what he says and follow his instructions.
-
If you land on…
- … a coloured space, build a building as shown in the paragraph "Building a Building" above.
- … a space with a building belonging to another player, pay rent to that player, as shown in the paragraph "Paying Rent" above.
- … a Chance space, follow the instructions of Mr. Monopoly.
- … the Free Parking space, you do nothing, but at least you do not have to pay any rent!
- … the Start space, or if you pass it, the banker gives 2€ to ALL the players.
Winning the Game
- When you have placed your 5 coloured roofs on the board, you may place your golden roof. The first player to place their golden roof wins the game. When you have placed your golden roof, quickly press the head of Mr. Monopoly 3 times in a row to tell him that you have won, and he will congratulate you. The game is over. To switch off Mr. Monopoly's car, put the steering wheel back in the middle.
- If all the spaces have buildings fully built (that is, with bricks and roofs), but no one has been able to place a golden roof on a building to win the game, then the winner is the player who has placed the most roofs on the board. This player presses the head of Mr. Monopoly 3 times.
Rules for Older Players
- The game is played as described in the rules above, but at the end of the game, each player counts the roofs they have placed on the board.
- Each player adds the number of roofs they have placed and the total amount of money they have in hand.
