Gameboard • 2 Tokens • 16 Chance Cards • 16 Community Chest Cards • 16 Red Houses • 16 Blue Houses • 1 Die • Money Pack
Object of the Game
Be first to buy up all the property on the board or bankrupt your opponent!
Set It Up
Each player chooses a color (blue or red) and a token. Then shuffle the Chance and Community Chest cards and place them on their respective spots on the gameboard. Give to each player:
- 16 houses (of their color)
- 4 M50 bills
- 8 M100 bills
Place the remaining money at the side of the gameboard. Each player then places their token on the Go space.
Play
The player with the closest birthday goes first! On your turn, roll the die and move that number of spaces.
Landing on Spaces
- If you land on an unoccupied property (one without a house on it), you may place one house on it to claim it! You don't need to pay any money to the bank.
- If you land on a property that you already own, and you own the full property set, draw a Chance or a Community Chest card.
- If you land on a property that you already own, and an adjacent property in the set is unoccupied, you do not draw a card. Instead, the unoccupied property must be auctioned. The player who makes the highest bid wins the property and pays the bank the amount they bid.
- If you land on a property owned by your opponent, pay the value shown on the board space to your opponent or make a deal! For example, you could negotiate by offering to trade properties in exchange for rent. Note that you may not put off paying your opponent until a future turn – you must pay on this turn.
- If you land on a property that is part of a full color set owned by your opponent, you must pay double the amount shown on the board.
- If you land on GO TO JAIL, move your token to the Jail space. You must remain in Jail for one turn. Only one player can be in Jail at a time.
If You Land on Free Parking
Just relax and do nothing!
If You Owe Rent and Are Unable to Pay
- If you own one or more properties, you have two options. You can sell a property back to the bank for its value, and the property is then unclaimed. Or, you can offer to sell the property to your opponent for an amount that they are willing to pay. In either case, remove your house, collect the money and pay the rent you owe.
- If you are unable to pay rent and don't own any properties, you have lost the game. Your opponent is the winner!
Playing Community Chest and Chance Cards
If you land on a Chance or a Community Chest space, take a card and follow its directions. If you draw a Just Say No, Skip the Rent, Double the Rent or Triple the Rent card, you may keep it on the table, face up, to use later. You must play all other cards immediately. After playing a card, put it back at the bottom of the deck.
How to Win
The game ends when a player no longer has any money or properties, or the entire board is owned by one player.
