Set It Up

  1. Put the spinner (pointing anywhere) in the center of the gameboard.
  2. Give each player:
    • ₦2000 (that's 20 notes!)
    • 1 token
    • 10 houses of the same color
  3. Sit in front of your color zone on the gameboard.
  4. Put the tokens on GO and the dice by the gameboard.
  5. Leave the rest of the cash here as the Bank. Choose a player to be Banker.

Play

How to win

Buy properties and charge rent! Spin the Chance spinner for extra cash! Have the most cash when the Bank goes bust to win!

How to play

The youngest player goes first. Play continues clockwise.

  1. Roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the outer ring of the board that number of spaces. Every time you land on or pass GO, collect ₦200.

    Rolled the Chance question mark?

    Then you have a choice:

    • Spin the Chance spinner! See page 6 for details.
    • Or move as normal the number of spaces shown on the other die.
  2. Where did you land? See THE BOARD SPACES section on the next page for details.

  3. Rolled a double? Take your turn, then roll and move again.

Watch out! If you roll three doubles in a row, you must go directly to Jail.

  4. That's it! Your turn is over. The player to your left goes next.

Start playing! Look up the board spaces as you land on them.

The Board Spaces

Unowned properties (no house)

You must buy or auction an unowned property.

  1. To buy it, pay the price shown on the space into the jackpot. Put one of your houses on the circled section. Note: There can only be one house on any property space.
  2. If you don't want to buy it or can't afford it, the Banker must auction it. Bidding starts at ₦100. Any player can bid. If no one wants it, that's fine.

Do not put any money into the Bank. All money goes into the jackpot! (Except rent.)

Run out of houses? If you don't have a house to put on an unowned space you want to buy, choose one of your houses and move it. The space you did own is now empty and back on the market.

Owned properties (with house)

  • You must pay the owner rent. Check out which color house is on the space. Rent is the purchase price shown on the space.
  • If you own it, do nothing.

Collect a color set! Rent is doubled if one player owns both properties of a color set.

Watch out! The owner must ask for rent before the next player rolls the dice; you snooze, you lose!

Run out of money? If you don't have enough money to pay rent, keep what money you do have, and give the player you owe one of your properties. Which one is up to you, not them! If you have no money or houses, do nothing. You've got it bad enough!

Got a hot house? The Bank pays out double rent when the Chance arrow points at one of your houses! See Chance on page 6 for details.

GO

Every time you land on or pass GO, collect ₦200.

Chance

If you land on Chance, then it's time to spin the Chance spinner! See page 6 for details.

Just Visiting / In Jail

If you land here on your roll, do nothing. Pop your token on the Just Visiting section.

Go To Jail

Go directly to Jail, do not pass GO, do not collect ₦200. That is the end of your turn.

While In Jail, you cannot collect rent, bid in auctions, or put money on any Chance spins. But you can collect a hot house payment if the Chance arrow points at one of your houses.

So how do you get out of Jail?

  • Pay ₦100 to the jackpot at the start of your next turn, then roll and move as normal.
  • Roll a double on your next turn. If you do, you're free! Use the roll to move, and that's the end of your turn.
  • If you don't roll a double by your third turn In Jail, then you are released for free. Use your last roll to move.

Free Parking wins the JACKPOT!

If you land on the Free Parking space on your move, you win the jackpot! Take the cash!

Win

It is GAME OVER as soon as the Bank goes bust! Count up your cash, or just compare the height of your stacks. The player with the most cash is the winner!

Chance = All Play!

If you land on Chance or decide to play the Chance face of the dice roll, then it's time to spin the Chance spinner! Here's what to do:

  1. First, each player must decide if they want to risk any money on the Chance spin!
  2. Then each player must decide how much they want to risk.
  3. Place your Chance money against your color zone.
  4. Then the player whose turn it is must press down gently on the center button to spin the Chance spinner.

Example (printed caption): eg., green is risking ₦500.

Where is the arrow pointing?

  1. Hot house: if the arrow points at any owned property, the owner takes double its value from the Bank. If it's part of an owned color set, then the pay out is four times its value!
  2. Now look at the inner circle Chance spaces: follow the instructions on that space. If you aren't sure exactly what it means, details are in the CHANCE SPACES section on the next page.

Example: on this spin, blue gets ₦600 for owning the property (the hot house is worth double rent). All players then take their pay out from the Bank (depending on what they risked). In this case, x2 Pay Out. The more you risk, the more you could win!

IMPORTANT

Payments are paid to each participating player in order, moving clockwise from the player who spun.

Remember: If you used the Chance icon, spinning Chance is the end of your turn. You do not move the other die roll.

You can collect hot house payments while In Jail.

Chance Spaces

If you land on Chance (or decide to play the Chance face of the dice roll), you must spin the Chance spinner whether or not you put any money down.

This means you could go bankrupt (or Go To Jail) even if you didn't risk any money. But it also means you could hit the jackpot (or steal, swap, or build a house)!

Jackpot

You win ALL the money in the jackpot plus ALL the money risked on the Chance spin! Other players do nothing, except lose their Chance money!

Bankrupt

Put ALL your money, not just what you risked on Chance, into the jackpot. Good luck, you'll need it now! Other players simply take their money back.

Pass Left & Pass Right

All players pass their money to the participating player on their left or right. Your win depends on what the others risked! If no one else played Chance, just take your money back.

x1 Pay Out

All players take the same amount they risked from the Bank. So if you risked ₦200, you take ₦200 from the Bank, and you take your Chance money back.

x2 Pay Out

All players take double the amount they risked from the Bank. So if you risked ₦200, you take ₦400 from the Bank, and you take your Chance money back.

x4 Pay Out

All players take four times the amount they risked from the Bank. So if you risked ₦200, you take ₦800 from the Bank, and you take your Chance money back.

Pay Jackpot

All players put their Chance money into the jackpot. Better luck next time!

Go To Jail

You must Go To Jail immediately. The money you risked goes into the jackpot. Other players take their Chance money back.

Build House

Place one of your houses on any unowned space on the gameboard. If there are no unowned spaces, do nothing. All players take their Chance money back.

Steal House

Choose an owned space you want to own. Put your house onto the space and return the previous owner's house back to them. All players take their Chance money back. If no houses are owned, do nothing.

Swap House

Swap one of your houses with any other on the gameboard. All players take their Chance money back. If no houses are owned, do nothing.

Swap Cash

First, everyone takes their Chance money back. Then you choose another player and you swap all your cash with that player!
