Object
To be the richest player at the moment when one of the others runs out of money.
Contents
- A game board
- 56 small plastic houses in 4 colours (the "BOOTHS", botteghini)
- A set of die-cut cardboard coins representing euros and cents
- 24 RISK cards (the back shows the haunted castle)
- 4 tokens
- One die
Setup
- Each player takes a token and places it on the START space (VIA).
- Each player takes 10 booths of the same colour (14 if playing with two players). Any booths left over stay in the box.
- Shuffle the RISK cards and place them face down on the space provided on the game board.
- Choose one player to be the banker. The banker takes the coins and sorts them by denomination into the compartments inside the box. The coins inside the box form the Bank. The banker takes part in the game and keeps their own money separate from the Bank.
- The banker gives each player €7.50, made up as follows:
- 1 coin of €2
- 2 coins of €1
- 5 coins of €0.50
- 5 coins of €0.20
- Each player rolls the die. The player with the highest score begins the game. Play proceeds clockwise.
How to Play
On your turn you must:
- Roll the die and move your token clockwise a number of spaces equal to the score rolled.
- Follow the instructions of the space on which you have landed.
The Spaces
The board is made up of 32 spaces. Each time your token ends its movement on one of them, you must follow the rules for that space, which vary according to the case.
Streets, parks and other coloured spaces without booths
If your token ends its movement on a street, park or other coloured space that has no booths on it, pay the amount shown to the Bank and place one of your booths on the coloured edge of the space. From then on, everyone who ends its movement on this space must pay the amount shown to you, not to the Bank.
Streets, parks and other spaces with booths
If your token ends its movement on a street, park or other space that has booths on it, pay the amount shown on the space to the owner of the booth. If the owner of the booth also has a booth on the other space of the same colour, the amount to be paid is doubled.
Stations
If your token ends its movement on a station, roll the die again, moving your token and following the instructions of the space where you land.
START (VIA)
Each time you pass through, or end your movement on, this space, take €0.50 from the Bank. You lose this right if you claim it after the next player has rolled the dice.
RISK spaces
If your token ends its movement on a RISK space, draw a card from the pile on the board and follow its instructions. Then place the card face up on the board to form the discard pile. When the RISK cards are used up, take the discard pile, shuffle it, and place it face down on the board again.
Sweets and balloons spaces
If your token ends its movement on a sweets or balloons space, pay €0.50, placing it on the LOTTERY space.
LOTTERY space
If your token ends its movement on the LOTTERY space, take the money if there is any; otherwise nothing happens.
SHOOTING GALLERY space
If your token ends its movement on the SHOOTING GALLERY space, nothing happens.
GO TO SHOOTING GALLERY space
If your token ends its movement on the "GO TO SHOOTING GALLERY" space, place €0.50 on the LOTTERY space and immediately move your token to the SHOOTING GALLERY space, without passing through START. On your next turn you move normally.
RISK Cards
When you draw a RISK card, you must follow the instructions shown on it.
Cards are printed with a short instruction. The following card texts appear on the RISK cards:
- "Pay €0.50 and go to the SHOOTING GALLERY."
- "Go to the BLUE Station and roll the dice again."
GO… (VAI…)
Advance your token to the space indicated on the card and follow its instructions. If you pass START, take €0.50.
BOOTH (BOTTEGHINO)
Without moving your token, you may place one of your booths on one of the spaces of the colour shown on the card, provided that no booth is already on that space.
- If both spaces are occupied, but by booths of different colours, you may replace one of your opponents' booths of your choice with one of yours. The opponent's booth must be returned to its rightful owner.
- If both spaces are occupied by booths of the same player, you cannot do anything. In this case, discard the RISK card and draw a new one.
End of the Game
The game ends at the moment when a player has no money left. The player who has the most money wins.
Strategy Tips
When you are able to replace an opponent's booth with one of yours, try to eliminate the strongest rival at that moment. As a defence, it is important to control a series of spaces of the same colour: this protects you from being replaced by your opponents. In addition, you can collect double rent every time an opponent lands on one of those spaces.
