Attention! To play, you need pencils and DIN A4 sheets, which are not included in Mini-MUTABO.

Game Goal
MUTABO is a very special game, because there are no winners or losers, no victory points, or any other scoring.
It's simply meant to be fun, extremely communicative, truly creative, and it creates a wonderfully high-spirited togetherness at the game table.
If you'd like to determine a winner anyway, you're welcome to do so by jointly rewarding the most original drawings or texts of each round with points agreed upon beforehand.
Game Preparation
Before the game begins, all the text cards are separated by green and blue backs and shuffled well; then placed face down in two stacks in the middle of the table.
Now a sheet and a pencil are needed for each player. Anyone who wants to can download and print MUTABO sheets from our website. But of course any other (preferably) DIN A4 sheet works too.
Once everyone has paper and a pencil, each player in turn takes one green and one blue card face down from the two stacks.
Important: It is not allowed to use letters or numbers in the drawings; symbols, however, may be used.
How to Play: Example for 6 Players
Each player turns their two text cards face up so that no one else can see them, and decides on one of the 36 possible little stories that result from combining a sentence beginning and a sentence ending.
Once everyone has decided on a story (see the example illustration), they write it at the top of the sheet (the original sentence). So the others can't read along, you can shield it with your hand. Then the part of the sheet with the MUTABO logo is folded forward along the dashed line so that it covers the text, and both cards are placed face down to the side.
If you don't want to make it too easy for your left-hand neighbor, choose as bizarre a combination as possible, since you won't have to draw it yourself ;-). For children, however, you can pick an "easier sentence."
As soon as everyone has finished writing and folding, they pass their sheet to the player on their left. That player secretly looks at the text and draws a small scene that matches the story directly in the next field — as well as they can!
Whoever is finished folds the text, and then also this drawing, forward so that both, especially the text, are no longer visible to the next player, and passes the sheet on to their left-hand neighbor in turn.
That player may unfold the drawing again, and now has the task of describing the scene in front of them with a fitting sentence, and then folding the sheet forward once more, and so on.
Writing and drawing alternate this way until each sheet comes back to the player who wrote the original sentence.
This ends the round.
The sheets are unfolded and everyone can laugh — about the resulting "works of art," and about the wondrous transformation of each original story.
After a few rounds of MUTABO*, you can also change the direction, so that each player passes the sheet to their right-hand neighbor instead...

PS: Sometimes it's also a huge amount of fun when all the players make up their own little, absurd stories.
*MUTABO recalls the magic word "Mutabor" from the fairy tale "Caliph Stork" ("Kalif Storch") by Wilhelm Hauff. Here as there, it has to do with transformation. MUTABO, however, is the active form of the verb "mutare," and accordingly means: I will transform.
Combining with the Large MUTABO
The Mini-MUTABO cards can be freely combined with the cards of the large, light blue MUTABO edition.
