Can Omnistomp move backward, toward an edge, or be redirected mid-move?

Omnistomp goes forward or to either side, never backward, and each step must be a valid direction. You may choose a direction that is blocked by the edge and stay in place. Once a slot has started, you cannot change its chosen direction mid-step.
