In Mission 5, how do I orient the Crystal Compass and when does the lava start moving?

Rotate the compass 90 degrees from the printed orientation so the green arrow points at the lava wall (the printed layout had a typo). The lava is meant to start moving in the Danger Phase of turn 3; the designers agreed the wording is a little off from that.
