How long does a Boss Rune Shield stay down?

Stepping on a Rune Space of a color lowers that shield, and it stays down until the Boss takes 1 damage from an attack of that color, whether that is in the same round or several rounds later. Standing on the rune does nothing extra; once he has taken the damage the shield returns even if a Mech is still on the rune, and that Mech must step off and back on to lower it again.
