Can I aim Chain Lightning or Hexmatic Aimbot at an empty space, and must an attack hit something?
A Riot designer ruled this in 2017, reversing a 2016 designer reply, and players still dispute it.

The newest designer answer (May 2017) is that for aimed attacks like Chain Lightning and Hexmatic Aimbot you may pick an empty space as the starting point, while Ripsaw must kill the next enemy in line and Flamespitter must hit everyone in its area. An earlier 2016 designer reply said you cannot pick an empty space when a target is available. At least one player thinks the newer ruling goes against the card wording, so treat it as the official but disputed reading.
