Goal Of The Game
Paint the beautiful Majolica tiles on the sheet and connect the same colors together to score points!
Components
- Painting Cards x 20
- Majolica Sheets x 96 (8 each of 12 types)
Game Setup
- Each player takes one Majolica Sheet of different types.
- Shuffle the 20 Painting Cards.
- Place the deck face down on the table.
Game Play
- In each round, flip one card from the deck.
- Each player can freely choose either: (1) Paint the colors on their sheet and get the bonus (if eligible). (2) Pass, and won't get the bonus.
- Continue to the next round.
- The game ends when the deck is exhausted.
Painting
- When you choose to paint the colors, you must follow the sequence of colors and paint them into 4 connected tiles.
- The colored tiles must make exactly one turn in any direction.
Tiles
Majolica Tile
Each Majolica tile can be painted twice with the same color or different colors.
Wing Tile
Each Wing tile can be painted only once.
Painting a Wing tile allows you to paint another Majolica tile with the same color immediately.
Tips
- Wanna create your own masterpiece? Paint it tenderly.
- Play casually? Paint it anyway you like!
Tiles painted once can be painted again. Tiles painted twice can't be painted anymore.
Painting Cards
Each Painting Card shows a sequence of colors and a bonus.
- Flower Bingo: If you have at least 4 tiles of the same color connected together (the "Connected color x4" symbol), circle one Flower Bingo from left to right.
- Sequence of colors: The colors you must paint, in order, into the 4 connected tiles.
- Whenever you circle a Handbarrow bonus, immediately circle a Handbarrow icon in the Point Line area. (See below.)
- At the end of the game, you will get points based on the right most circle you have reached.
Flower Bingo
If you have at least 4 tiles of the same color connected together, circle one Flower Bingo from left to right.
The Flower Bingo row on each sheet reads, from left to right: 1, 3, Handbarrow icon, 6, 12, 18, Handbarrow icon, 26.
Whenever you circle a Handbarrow bonus, immediately circle a Handbarrow icon in the Point Line area.
Point Line
If you have at least 5 tiles that were already painted twice, circle a Handbarrow icon in the Point Line area to activate a scoring category.
At the end of the game, you will get points based on the circled scoring categories.
Tips (Flower Bingo and Point Line)
- To be eligible for the Flower Bingo or Point Line bonus, you must fulfill the requirement before you paint the colors in that round.
- After getting the bonus, you must paint the colors of the Painting Card on your sheet.
Shovels
- Each player has 6 chances during the game to skip the colors on the Painting Cards.
- For each color you skip, you must paint one Shovel icon on the bottom of the sheet.
- At the end of the game, players will get 1 point for each unpainted Shovel icon on the sheet.
Game End
- The game ends when the Painting Cards are exhausted.
- Count the tiles in the longest connection in each color and write down the numbers on the bottom of your sheet.
- A tile painted twice with the same color is counted only once.
Scoring Category
The Point Line area and the Flower Bingo area are scored as follows. The printed sheet shows each scoring category as a numbered slot; the numbers below match those slots.
- Points for each scoring category.
- 1 point for each tile in your longest connected color.
- Note: You must paint the Handbarrow icons TWICE to activate this scoring category.
- Note: If you paint the Handbarrow icons 4 times, each tile will score 2 points instead.
- 1 point for each tile in your second longest connected color.
- 2 points for each tile in your shortest connected color.
- 2 points for each different color painted in your Wing tiles.
- Note: If you paint 2 Handbarrow icons, each color will score 5 points instead.
- Total score for your Point Line area.
- The highest circled number is your point in the Flower Bingo area.
- 1 point for each unpainted Shovel icon.
Scoring Example
On the example sheet:
- Your longest connected area of orange has 11 tiles. You have painted 4 Handbarrow icons, so you will get 11 x 2 = 22 points.
- The highest number you have circled is 3, so you score 3 points in the Flower Bingo area.
- Write down the numbers of the longest connected area for the 4 colors: Red 9, Blue 10, Orange 11, Green 7.
Alternative Rules (for beginners)
After shuffling the Painting Cards, randomly draw 5 cards and place them aside face-down.
Game play remains the same but when the deck is exhausted, revealed the 5 cards for a final round.
Each player may choose one of the cards to paint on their sheet or pass. Multiple players may choose the same card for the final round.
