How does regeneration work, and what does it not stop?

Regeneration makes a shield that replaces the next destruction: the creature taps, is removed from combat and loses damage. Activate it before the destruction, for instance in response to the removal spell. It does not stop sacrifice, exile or 0 toughness, and it is too late once the creature is in the graveyard.
