Contents
- 1 game board
- 4 adventurer pieces
- 15 location cards
- 16 lightning bug tiles
- 1 set of game instructions
Preparation
Place the game board in the middle of the table. Each player selects an adventurer and places him on the game board on any location field with a illuminated ring (1).
Shuffle the location cards face down and distribute them equally around the board. The lightning bug tiles are shuffled with the lightning bugs face up and placed next to the game board. Turn over four lightning bug tiles and place them on the corresponding location fields with the illuminated ring (2) on the game board.
How to play
Moving the adventurer
Take turns in a clockwise direction. The player who has been on an island once (or the youngest player) begins and turns over any location card.
Which location is the card showing?
- If you have turned over a location that your adventurer can reach directly and on which there is no other adventurer, you may move him there. Your turn continues, and you turn over additional location cards until you reach a location field with a lightning bug tile or you turn over a location that you cannot reach directly. Attention: Only one adventurer may be on a location field at a time. If another adventurer is already on a location field, then your turn is over.
- If you turn over a location that your adventurer cannot reach directly, i.e., there are other location fields between your adventurer and the uncovered location field, your adventurer unfortunately must remain in place, and your turn is over.
At the end of your turn, flip all the location cards over again, so that they are all face-down. It is now the next player's turn.
Finding the lightning bugs
If you move your adventurer onto a location field on which there is a lightning bug tile, you may take it and place it in front of you. Draw a new lightning bug tile, turn it over and place it on the corresponding location with the illuminated ring.
Your turn is now over.
End of the game
The game ends as soon as a player has found 5 of the rare lightning bugs. This player has won the adventuresome search on Lumina and this summer can be named the "greatest lightning bug scout." If four players and each player has found 4 lightning bugs, everyone wins and it's a tie game.
Version for advanced adventurers
Preparation
The game set-up is the same as with the basic game with one change: Distribute the face-down shuffled location cards equally among the players. When there are 3 players, one player receives an extra card. Lay out the location cards face down in a row in front of you.
How to play
The game is played the same as with the basic game with the following changes:
From all the location cards, those that are in front of you as well as the other players, you may select and turn over one card. If the location card shows a location that you can reach directly, and if you move your piece there, lay it down, face-up, in front of you. You may now turn over another location card.
If the location card shows a place that you cannot reach directly or on which there is another adventurer, leave the card in its place.
At the end of your turn, you turn over all the face-up cards exactly where they are.
The winner is the player who is the first to find 5 lightning bugs.
