Instructions to Play Lotería, 2-10 Players
Shuffle the deck of 54 cards and assign one person to be the Caller. The Caller is the person who will call out the name on the card as they draw from the deck of cards.
Each player grabs a board (tabla) that has a variety of images from the deck of cards. You may choose to play with multiple boards for a greater challenge. There are 10 boards to choose from that are all different.
Each player needs to have tokens for their board(s). The number of tokens you need depends on how many boards you're using; you'll need at least 16 tokens for one board. You can use things like pennies, rocks, or dry beans as tokens to place on the board once an image has been called.
The Caller will pick a card from the deck to start the game and call out the image on the card. Everyone who has that image on their board will place a token on the matching spot on their board. Example: The Caller calls out "La Rosa, the Rose." If your board has La Rosa / The Rose, place a token on that spot.
Listen carefully as the Caller continues to draw new cards and announce the image. Place tokens on any images your board has that have been called. The first person to get 4 tokens in a row diagonally, vertically, or horizontally and calls out "Loteria" wins!
The Caller will verify that the images have been called and are correctly selected.
