Setup

This expansion introduces new vicious Monsters that players can add to the game for even more replayability. To do so, add all new Monster trays and Monster miniatures to the base game of Lords of Ragnarok. During step 7 of the Setup, players randomly draw Monster trays or choose ones they want to play with (whichever they prefer).

Note! There always must be exactly 6 Monsters in the game (pairs with 3 different Rune symbols).

Expansion Compatibility

This Expansion is compatible with all other Lords of Ragnarok expansions.

Monster Artifacts

The Monster Artifact cards are used at the start of your turn.

The Guardian's Jaw (Garm)

Monster Artifact. Use at the start of your turn. Ally any Realm. You don't have to spend a Rune or be adjacent with your Hero to the Realm.

Mare's Hair (Mare)

Monster Artifact. Use at the start of your turn. Decrease the value of one Army by 1 in a Region with a Settlement. Army may not be killed this way.

Dragon's Horn (Nidhoggr)

Monster Artifact. Use at the start of your turn. Activate a neutral or one of your Monsters.

Editor's note: the document shows four Monster Artifact cards. The fourth card (the Nokken artifact, whose Reward is the Enchanted Violin) is partly covered in the printed image, and its body text does not appear in the document's text layer, so its text is not transcribed here.

Monster Trays

Each Monster tray has an Attack Region effect, a Special Attack effect and a Reward. The bottom edge of each tray also carries a row of icons (Priest, Rune, Army +1); the document does not describe them in text.

Garm

Attack Region: Choose one Army on the board from those with the lowest value. Place Garm in a Region with that Army and kill that Army.

Special Attack: Deal 1 Injury. The Hunting player discards a Priest.

Reward: The Guardian's Jaw

Nokken

Attack Region: All players discard one Rune of their choice or take 1 Injury.

Special Attack: Deal 1 Injury. Hunting player discards their Control marker from an allied Realm of their choice.

Reward: Enchanted Violin

Mare

Attack Region: Move Mare to any Region with a Settlement and decrease the value of each Army in that Region by 1.

Special Attack: Discard 6 cards from the Monster Attack deck. If there are not enough cards in the Monster Attack deck, the Hunt immediately ends.

Reward: The Mare's Hair

Nidhoggr

Attack Region: Move Nidhoggr to any Region adjacent to Yggdrasill and decrease the value of one Army in that Region by 2.

Special Attack: Deal 1 Injury. The Hunt immediately ends. Place Nidhoggr with the Hunting Hero to any Region adjacent to Yggdrasill.

Reward: Dragon's Horn

Editor's note: the Nidhoggr tray is covered by the Garm tray in the printed image. Its Special Attack text was taken from the document's text layer in stream order, and the split of its lines between the Special Attack and the card's other text could not be confirmed visually.
