Game Components and Setup
Game board
After you have taken all the game materials out of the box, place the bottom part of the box in the middle of the table. Put the game board on top of it.
House and figures
Have an adult help you put the parts together. The assembly instructions show exactly how the individual parts are assembled.
Grandmother's house First clamp Grandmother into the door opening and decide whether the wood side or the stone side faces outward. Then put the 3 wall parts together and cover the house with the roof.
Place the finished house on the matching spot on the game board.
Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf Before the first game, put the two figures together as shown in the assembly instructions. After playing, you do not need to take the figures apart again. Place both figures on their markings on the game board.
32 memo tiles
Place all tiles face down next to the game board and shuffle them well. Now arrange them in a grid of 4 x 8 tiles.
Alternative: simple game
For a game with younger children, remove 1 or 2 tiles showing a Wolf.
Object of the Game
You play together as one team. Find 2 matching tiles so that Little Red Riding Hood can bring the ordered pizza one step closer to Grandmother. Be sure to use the help of the Hunter, who chases the Wolf away. If Little Red Riding Hood arrives at Grandmother's first, you have won together.
Gameplay
You play in turn, clockwise. The child who most recently ate pizza starts. When it is your turn, you turn over any 2 tiles to their front side. Now there are the following possibilities:
- You have found 2 matching tiles that show the two parts of one food: You may take these two tiles off the table and set them aside. Then you move Little Red Riding Hood 1 space toward Grandmother.
- You have found 2 tiles that show parts of different foods: Nothing happens. Turn the two tiles face down again. But all remember well what the tiles show and where they lie.
- You find 1 or 2 Wolves: You must move the Wolf as many spaces toward Grandmother as you have turned over Wolf tiles. Afterwards you turn both tiles face down again. Here too: remember well what the tiles show and where they lie.
- You have found 1 Wolf and 1 Hunter: The Hunter chases the Wolf away. You may take both tiles off the table and set them aside.
After that your turn is over, and the next child in turn order may turn over 2 tiles.
End of the Game
If Little Red Riding Hood reaches the space on which Grandmother's house stands before the Wolf, you have won together. If the Wolf arrives at Grandmother's before Little Red Riding Hood, you unfortunately lose together. Why not try again right away.
A Few More Tips
Watch out for the Hunter: Pay attention to where tiles with the Hunter lie, and try to remember that for later. The Hunter helps you chase away a Wolf.
Teamwork is important: You play as 1 team. That means you can give each other tips about which tiles you should turn over and which not. You should also remember together what has already been seen.
