Aim of the Game
The first player to complete one lap of the track and then win a challenge, claims the trophy and wins the game!
Setting Up the Game
Before you start playing, build the game using the LEGO® building instructions provided in the set. Building the game teaches you about the pieces and how you can use them. This makes it easier to rebuild the game or change the rules later on.
Build the LEGO Dice using the tiles shown in the rules booklet.
Each player chooses a figure.
Playing the Game
The youngest player goes first. Play then continues clockwise.
On your turn roll the LEGO® Dice, then either jump ahead or play a challenge.
Jump Ahead
Move clockwise to the next green brick on the track ahead of you, then your turn ends.
Play a Challenge
On your turn, you are the ‘Challenger’.
- BUILD a brick of the colour you rolled in the first available space ahead of you on the track, going clockwise.
- MOVE to the first brick of the colour you rolled ahead of you, going clockwise. Sometimes this will not be the brick you just built.
- Play the CHALLENGE matching the colour you rolled. All the challenges are explained below.
- The WINNER of the challenge jumps ahead to the next green brick.
Challenges
On Target
Everyone throws a brick and tries to get it closest to the target.
- The Challenger places the LEGO Dice in middle of the play area.
- Starting with the player to the left of the Challenger and going clockwise, everyone takes a turn to throw ONE brick towards the LEGO Dice. Use a brick matching the colour of your figure.
- The player whose brick is closest to the LEGO Dice wins.
Bluffing Bricks
Everyone hides three bricks and then takes turns to guess the total number of one colour.
- Everyone secretly takes THREE bricks of any colour and hides them in their hands.
- The Challenger makes a guess about how many bricks of ONE colour are in ALL the players’ hands, such as “I think there are two red bricks”.
- Going clockwise, everyone takes turns to either make a new guess OR call “Reveal!”
- Guess: Your guess must be for a higher number of bricks, of the same or different colour.
- Reveal: Call “Reveal!” if you think the previous player’s guess is too high. Everyone reveals all their bricks. If there are fewer bricks than the number guessed by the previous player, you win. If there are the same number or more, the previous player wins.
Topple Tower
Everyone take turns to add bricks to a tower without making it fall.
- The Challenger places ONE brick in the middle of the play area to start the tower.
- Starting with the player to the left of the Challenger and going clockwise, everyone takes turns to add more bricks to the tower. The first player takes TWO bricks, builds them together and then balances them on the top of the tower. Then the next player takes THREE bricks, builds them together and balances them on the top of the tower, and so on.
- When the tower falls, the previous player wins.
Codebreaker
The Challenger builds a secret code and everyone takes turns to work it out.
- The Challenger takes a handful of bricks and builds a stack of THREE bricks of DIFFERENT colours to make a ‘secret code’. Hide the code in your hands or under the box lid.
- Going clockwise, everyone else takes turns to ask questions about the colour and position of the bricks in the code. You may ask any question, such as “Is there a red brick on top?”, but the Challenger may only answer “Yes” or “No”. If the Challenger answers “Yes” you may ask another question, otherwise your turn ends.
- If it is your turn and you think you know the colour and position of all the bricks in the secret code, use three bricks to build a matching code and ask the Challenger to reveal the secret one. If the codes match exactly, you win. If not, the Challenger wins.
Speed Builder
The Challenger builds a multi-coloured shape and everyone races to match it.
- Everyone takes one brick in each of the eight colours. The Challenger builds a shape using all eight bricks while everyone else closes their eyes. Place the shape in the middle of the play area and call “Go!”
- Everyone else opens their eyes and tries to copy the shape as fast as possible. If you think you have copied the shape exactly call “Finished!” to stop play.
- Compare your shape to the Challenger’s. If the shapes match exactly you win. If not, the Challenger wins.
Reaching the Finish
If you roll ‘Jump ahead’ or win a challenge and there is no green brick ahead of you, move to the finish. If you roll ‘Play a challenge’ and there is no space on the track to build a brick AND no bricks of the colour you rolled ahead of you, move to the finish and play the challenge matching the colour you rolled. If you are on the finish at the start of your turn, stay there and play the challenge matching the colour you rolled.
Winning the Game
The first player to reach the finish and then WIN ANY CHALLENGE, claims the trophy and wins the game!
Your Game – Your Rules
LEGO® Games are made to be changed. You can rebuild the game or the LEGO Dice, change the pieces or even the rules! Every little change makes it more and more YOUR GAME.
The secret to changing a game is to only change one thing at a time. If you like the change keep it, if not try another. Get started by trying these suggestions, but remember to make sure everyone knows all the rules before you start playing.
Take Your Pick
Replace one of the challenge colours on the LEGO Dice with the ‘Question mark’ tile. If you roll ‘Question mark’, choose any challenge to play.
Double Cross
Replace one of the challenge colours on the LEGO Dice with the ‘Jolly Roger’ tile. If you roll ‘Jolly Roger’, swap places on the track with any other player and then play the challenge that matches the colour of the brick you are now standing on. If you are on the finish, choose any challenge to play.
Bowled Over
Replace one of the challenge colours on the LEGO Dice with the white tile. Everyone takes turns to knock down bowling pins with the LEGO Dice.
- The Challenger takes six bricks and stands them up in the play area as bowling pins.
- Starting with the player to the left of the Challenger and going clockwise, everyone takes ONE turn to throw the LEGO Dice and knock down the bowling pins. The LEGO Dice must bounce at least once before hitting the pins. Set up the bowling pins the same way for each player.
- The player who knocks down the most bowling pins wins. If two or more players tie, the tied player who played last wins.
Anything Goes
Replace one of the challenge colours on the LEGO Dice with the pink tile, and then think up a new challenge that everyone can play together when you roll pink.
