Before the First Game
Carefully separate the cardboard pieces from the frames. The frames and the parts with the symbol are no longer needed. Please dispose of them properly.
Assembling the Castle Courtyard
- Connect the partition walls as pictured and place the grid created in the box base. Pay attention to the markings on the partition walls and the box base! (See Fig.)
- Place the water base on the grid as pictured and place the game board on top. The castle courtyard is ready!
Assembling the Towers
- Fold the towers as pictured and
- slide 1 silicone ring down over the tower, so that it fits into the notches in the corners.
Important: You only need to assemble the grid and the towers with the silicone rings once. Everything remains assembled after the game. Just remove the secret door and the roof from the tower and store everything in the box along with the rest of the game material.
Inserting the Towers
- Insert the towers into the cut-outs in the castle courtyard as pictured.
- Slide the secret door into the slit and place the roof on top of the battlements.
Game 1: Knuckling Knights
An exciting rumble-tumble game for 2 to 4 dragon knights aged 4 years and older.
Before Starting
For this game you'll need the following game materials: castle courtyard, brown main tower (with secret door and roof), 8 knights of 1 color per child, 1 tumble die, 8 gold coins, knight gathering place.
Place the rest of the game materials to the side in the box lid. You won't need these until The Big Dragon Spectacle game.
Place the assembled castle courtyard in front of you and insert the brown main tower into the middle cut-outs.
Each player chooses a knight color and takes the 8 knights of this color. Place the knight gathering place next to the castle courtyard.
Have the tumble die ready along with the 8 gold coins as a general stockpile.
Let's Get Started
Take turns playing in a clockwise direction. You play several tumbling rounds. Many knights had long hair, so the child with the longest hair goes first.
Start a tumbling round: Roll the tumble die.
What did you roll?
-
One or two dots? Send your knights into the tower. They try to find their way out as quickly as possible. Take the number of knights corresponding to what you rolled (1 or 2) and place them in the round opening in the tower roof. Later in the game you may have knights of another color in front of you. You can send these into the tower too.
If you don't have enough (or even any) knights left, send the knights you do have left into the tower. This ends the tumbling round, and now it's time for scoring (see explanation "When does a tumbling round end and how is it scored?").
-
The secret door? Great, you've found the secret door! Now it's time to tumble ... Carefully pull the secret door out of the tower so that all the knights tumble out.
What Do You Do With the Knights That Tumbled Out?
- All knights that fall into one of the 3 water holes or touch the water base are taken out of the round. Remove them from the water holes and place them in the knight gathering place. If any other knights tumble into the water holes, these are also taken out of the round.
- Now divide up the knights lying in the castle courtyard. Take back all the knights of your color. In addition, you may capture one knight of each color that tumbled out and place it in front of you. Return the remaining knights to the other children.
Slide the secret door back into the tower.
Example: Tim has the purple knights. He rolls the secret door and pulls it out of the tower. Tim moves the blue knight slightly away from the edge as it is not touching the water base. He places the orange and red knight that fell into the water hole in the knight gathering place. Tim now takes his two purple knights and 1 orange, 1 red, and 1 blue knight from the castle courtyard. He returns the remaining knights lying in the castle courtyard to the other children.
Important: Big knight rescue! If you roll the secret door and believe there are no knights in the tower, you call out: "One, two, three: one knight will soon belong to me!" The other children check to see if you guessed correctly by taking the roof off the tower and looking to see whether there are any knights inside.
- If you guessed correctly and there are no knights in the tower, you may take a knight of your color from any child, rescuing it. This is provided that one of your knights has already been captured by another child.
- If you didn't guess correctly, you may not rescue any of your knights, nor may you pull out the secret door.
Then it's the next child's turn to roll the die.
When Does a Tumbling Round End and How Is It Scored?
A tumbling round ends when a child whose turn it is needs to put knights in the tower but doesn't have any or enough knights left in front of them. All the other children count their knights, including those of different colors. The player with the most knights wins this tumbling round and takes a gold coin from the stockpile.
Does more than one child have the same number of knights? Then the child with the most knights of their own color in front of them wins. If there is still a tie, all these children win a gold coin. If no one has a knight in front of them, each child wins a gold coin.
A New Tumbling Round Begins
After scoring, pull the secret door out of the tower so that all remaining knights tumble out. Each child takes the 8 knights of their color. The next child in a clockwise direction takes their turn to roll the die. A new tumbling round begins.
When Does the Game End?
The game ends as soon as a child wins their 2nd gold coin. If several children have 2 gold coins, they win together.
