When does a summer boat's ability start working?
The designer confirmed the timing for Boat 2a, and the summer boat entries say the ability starts on acquisition.

Right away, from the season you win it. A summer boat's ability applies from then on. For Boat 2a the designer confirmed it works while you place tiles in the turn you acquire it, so you can ignore matching for every tile placed then, itself included.
