Preparing the Tree and the Monkeys
Tip for adults: read the instructions below and, at the same time, play along with the child.
Join the two halves of the trunk. Fit the larger crown onto it, then the smaller one, pressing them together so they lock. Then, on the front and back of each monkey, apply stickers of the same colour. Punch out the "bananas" from the card sheet.
Making the Monkey Jump
Fit the little monkey onto the top of your "lança-macaco" (monkey catapult). Press the tip of the lança-macaco with your finger and let go. (Sound effect, not clearly legible on the printed sheet.) The monkey jumps to the tree!
Ways to Play
You can play in two ways:
Pula Macaco – Rápido (Quick)
Agree whether the monkeys may hang only by their arms or in any way. Then each player chooses one lança-macaco and takes the monkeys of the same colour. Next, everyone stands around the tree and starts shooting at the same time.
For each monkey that hangs on the tree, the player gains one banana. A player whose monkey has been knocked down returns one banana and tries to hang it again.
The winner of Pula Macaco – Rápido is the first player to collect 4 bananas!
Pula Macaco – Melhor Arremesso (Best Throw)
Before each round, separate one monkey of each colour and place them on the table. Each player then closes their eyes and draws one of them at random. Next, each player takes the lança-macaco of the same colour and 4 bananas. Before throwing, each player places one banana on the table.
The player whose monkey hangs at the highest point of the tree made the best throw. That player wins against those below and takes all the bananas on the table.
Note: Only a monkey hanging by its arms counts. If two monkeys hang at the same height, the tie is broken by colour, in this order: 1st red, 2nd blue, 3rd green, 4th yellow. That is why the monkeys are drawn by lot before each round.
The winner of Pula Macaco – Melhor Arremesso is:
- For 2 players: the first to collect 7 bananas.
- For 3 players: the first to collect 9 bananas.
- For 4 players: the first to collect 11 bananas.
Safety Tips
- Attention! Show the child how to use the toy correctly before letting them play.
- The child must stand behind the lança-macaco, keeping their head and body out of the monkey's line of fire.
- The lança-macaco must face the tree.
- The child must not aim the lança-macaco at themselves or at other players.
- Attention! Do not use projectiles other than those provided. Do not aim at the eyes or face.
- Tip! When using the lança-macaco, avoid pressing it too hard, as the monkey may be launched vertically.
