- 69 Fruit tiles:
- 45 tiles with 2 fruits
- 20 tiles with fruit and complement
- 4 Wild tiles
- 10 Juice Master tiles and preferred flavor
- 1 Surprise tile
Goal
Your goal is to make Juices by placing the fruit tiles in the most efficient way possible within a 4x4 tile grid.
Juices are made by placing 3 or more tiles with the same fruits adjacent to each other. The more tiles you collect, the more Juices you will get.
The winner is the first to get 6 Juices in the basic mode, or whoever gets the most Juices in the Advanced Mode (see Game Modes).
Example: by placing 3 tiles with grapes, you get 1 Juice!
Game Round
A round consists of: SmartDraft, Score, Blocks, Complements.
SmartDraft
SmartDraft allows everyone to play their turn at the same time:
- Draw 2 tiles from the center pile.
- Keep one of them and pass the other tile to the player on the right.
- Receive the tile from the player on the left.
You can now put the 2 tiles on your grid considering the placement rules.
Placement Rules
Each player's personal grid limit is 4x4 tiles. No tile can surpass it.
At the start of the game
Place your Juice Master in the position you want on your grid. The grid is not fixed and can vary, but never exceed the 4x4 tile limit.
Placement
You can only place the new fruit tiles by touching other tiles already on your grid orthogonally, not diagonally.
Scoring
After placing the tiles, check if you have 3 (or more) tiles with the same fruit and that they are orthogonally adjacent. If you have 3 tiles (or more) with the same fruit you MUST score the Juices.
- 3 fruits: 1 Juice
- 4 fruits: 1 Juice + Add / Remove Block
- 5 fruits: 1 Juice + Add / Remove Blocks (up to 2)
ATTENTION! Rate each Juice independently. Keep in mind that you can make more than one Juice in the same turn and that you can combine a tile to complete Juices of 2 types at the same time (for example, a grape and an apple Juice).
You make Juices by connecting 3 fruit tiles (or more) orthogonally.
- Remove these tiles.
- Keep one face-down tile for each Juice collected.
- Remove the remainder to the discard pile.
- Keep all your Juices next to you face down.
Isolated Tiles
All of your tiles must be connected to one another on either side (corners don't count). Removing tiles from a Juice may cause one or more tiles to become disconnected from the rest. In that case, move them until they meet the closest tile. The only condition is that you must use the minimum number of possible moves. If joining them generates a Juice, score it immediately.
Blocks
Blocks are tiles placed upside down on the playing grid. When making Juices with 4 fruits you can add or remove 1 Block and when making Juices with 5 fruits you can add or remove 2 Blocks or remove one and put another.
Add Block
Take one of the discarded Juice tiles you just made and place it anywhere on the grid of the player to your left. Wait for her to rate her Juices first.
Remove Block
Take a Block from your grid and remove it to the discard pile.
Special Tiles
Wildcard
Good for any fruit (only one type). Place the tile on your grid and decide what kind of fruit you want it to be when you make Juice.
Hot Spicy
If your Juice has Chili Pepper on any of its tiles, the rest of the players must add a Block to their grid (wherever they want). Take these tiles from the discard pile.
Coffee
If you make Juice with a Coffee on any of the tiles, draw an additional tile and play it right away. If placing it generates another Juice, score it immediately.
Game End
The game ends when a player reaches 6 Juices or if a player has a complete grid and cannot place any more tiles. In this case, the player with the most Juices wins.
Tie
In the event of a tie, whoever has the fewest Blocks wins. If the tie persists, you will have to replay another game.
Game Modes
Basic: Juice Master without Fruit
The player who reaches 6 Juices wins.
This is the ideal mode for beginners. Each player takes a Juice Master tile and places it in their play area on the side that does not have any fruit. The first one to make 6 Juices wins.
Advanced: Juice Master + Favorite Fruit
The player who gets the most Juices wins.
Each player takes a Juice Master tile and places it on their grid on the side that has a fruit. This will be your preferred fruit for the game, and you will get 1 extra Juice for each tile you have in your Juice stack with that fruit. The game ends when one player makes 6 Juices. Afterwards, additional Juices are added for the preferred fruit. Whoever has the most Juices wins.
Orders to Go-Go
There is no starting tile. The player who gets the most Juices wins. The Juice Master tiles and the Surprise tile are used.
In this game mode you do not place any starting tiles on your grid. Shuffle the 10 Juice Master tiles and make a pile with them. Place the Surprise tile on top to hide the order of the orders. At the beginning of each round, take out a Juice Master tile and place it on the table showing the fruit. This fruit corresponds to the active order and during that round only that type of Juice will score (the rest of Juices score 0). The round ends when one or more players make a Juice from the active order. Start a new round by replacing the active order with a new one until all 10 orders are met. The game ends when the last order is fulfilled and the player who has obtained the most Juices wins.
Solo: Juice Master without Fruit
You win if you exceed your opponent's Juices (Automa) before collapsing.
The Automa makes Juices with 3 identical fruits; it doesn't matter if they are not adjacent.
Add modules to spice up the solo mode. You can mix them or play them separately.
Set Up
Randomly select a Juice Master tile and put it in front of you, you will play with it. Randomly select a Juice Master tile and put it aside, it will be your Opponent (Automa). Return the 20 "fruit and add-on" tiles, the 4 wild tiles, and the 8 remaining Juice Masters to the box, they will not be used for basic mode. Mix the remaining 45 tiles. You are ready to start!
How to Play
In the SmartDraft phase, draw 2 tiles from the center pile, place one in your play area, and leave the discarded tile next to the Automa. Since there is no player to your left, you will only place one tile per turn. During the scoring phase, keep one tile for each Juice made (as always), but ignore all blocks.
After checking if you have made Juices, you should check if the Automa has made any. If the Automa has 3 fruits of the same type in its scoring zone, it will make 1 Juice and put a block on you. You can put the block anywhere in your playing area by following the usual placement rules. Discard the rest of the tiles used.
The game ends if you can't place a tile because your grid is full. It is time to count all your Juices and those of the Automa. You only win the game if you manage to make more Juices than the Automa. If you make less Juices or draw, you lose.
Modules (Solo Mode)
Next, you will find 3 modules that will give more flavor to the solo mode. You can mix them or play them separately.
The Cursed Wild Tile
Changes in set up: Add the 4 wild tiles to the solo mode setup.
Game changes: If when you draw the 2 tiles, one is a wild tile, you are obliged to give it to Automa and keep the other. You can only get a wild tile if the 2 drawn tiles are wild.
The Automa can use the wild tile multiple times and for any fruit, so it will make Juice with all the pairs of fruit that it has.
Example: the Automa has managed to make 2 Juices by adding the wild tile; one of grape (2 grapes + the wild tile) and another of apple (2 apples + the wild tile).
The Automa discards the wild tile after the scoring phase (even if it failed to score).
Juice Masters
Changes in set up: At the start of the game, flip your Juice Master and the Juice Master of the Automa to show the side with your preferred flavor.
Game changes: Whenever you draw a tile with a fruit of the preferred flavor from the Automa, you must give that tile to the Automa. If both tiles are the Automa's preferred flavor, keep whichever tile you prefer and give the other to the Automa. If you are playing with the Cursed Wild Tile Module and you draw a wild tile along with a tile of the preferred Automa flavor, give the wild tile to Automa.
Whenever possible, the Automa should keep a tile of their preferred flavor when scoring a Juice.
At the end of the game, you and the Automa will add an extra Juice to the score for each tile with your preferred flavor in your Juice stack.
When you complete a Juice with Coffee, immediately draw and play another tile, and if you create another Juice, score it immediately. If you play with the Cursed Wild Tile Module, and in the extra draw you draw a wild card, discard it and keep the next non-wild tile.
When you complete a Chilli Juice, it automatically discards one of the Automa tiles.
Complements Everywhere
Changes in set up: At the start of the game in the solo mode, add the 20 "fruit with complement" tiles.
Game changes: When you draw a tile with a complement, you must keep it, you cannot give it to Automa. If when drawing the 2 tiles, they both have a complement, keep one of them and give to the Automa the next tile in the pile that has no complement.
Combining Copies
If you combine it with another copy of Juices you can play up to 14 players!
