- 250 Jokes cards
- 70 "Dis ta joke..." cards
- 10 blank cards, for adding your own jokes
Game Idea and Goal
Two teams face each other in joke duels. The first player to laugh gives a point to the opposing team. The first team to score 5 points wins. (Yes, it is simple, but you may read the rest of the rules anyway; we would appreciate it.)
Setup
Players start by forming two teams with equal numbers of players.
Separate the "Dis ta Joke" cards from the rest of the cards.
The players then agree on the side of the cards (blue or orange) they will use for the whole game.
Note: if you are playing with family, or do not want to encounter (very) bad-taste jokes, we advise using only the 50 cards bearing this symbol: [symbol icon shown in the printed rules].
How to Play
Each team designates its first player, then the two designated players sit facing each other. The "dumbest" of the two takes a "Jokes" card and reads a joke. In turn, the two players read a joke to their opponent, respecting the blue or orange side chosen at the start of the game:
- If one player laughs, the opposing team wins the "Jokes" card.
- If no one laughs, the duel continues and it is the other player's turn to tell their joke.
- If both players laugh, no one wins the card and they continue.
A player who laughs must give their place to another member of their team.
As soon as a player has told 3 jokes, they must also give up their place.
Note: the duel begins as soon as a "Jokes" card is drawn. The duelists must not laugh, but they may smile without showing their teeth.
End of the Game
The first team to win 5 "Jokes" cards wins the game!
Want to play another game? Then the losing team swaps its worst player with a player of its choice from the winning team.
Variant
Want to spice up the game, or make the hard-to-amuse flinch? Before reading their joke, the two players in a duel draw a "Dis ta joke..." challenge card and must read their jokes in the manner indicated by the card. The challenge card is changed each time the player changes.
