Can I save resource cubes for later rounds, and do cubes on my Empire card carry over?
The designer confirmed that Empire-card cubes are kept only to become Krystallium, matching the rulebook.

You cannot hold ordinary cubes: each must be placed at once on a card under construction or your Empire card. Krystallium and character tokens are the only things you can keep in reserve. Cubes on the Empire card stay there from round to round and are never discarded; they can only be used to convert into Krystallium at five, not moved back onto cards.
