Setup
- First, remove all the trees without objects and the mirror cards from the cards in the game.
- Shuffle all the remaining cards and place them face down on the table, forming a grid of 7 cards by 7 cards. Leave the tree cards face up next to the forest.
- From the 4 magic mirrors, which represent 4 magical objects, choose one at random and place it face up next to the forest. This mirror represents the first magical object to be sought. The other mirrors are not used in this game and are set aside.
Starting the Game
- The youngest player begins by turning over one of the face-down cards in the grid of the enchanted forest.
- If the card shows, at the foot of the tree, the same object as the chosen magic mirror, then the first object has been found. It is placed next to the mirror, and in its place a tree card without an object is taken from the deck and placed.
- The player may now turn over a new card. The object to be sought is now the one in the small mirror that is on the tree just revealed.
- If the object is not the same, the card is turned face down again and the next player to the left continues play.
Unfortunately, there are not only enchanted objects in the forest.
Witches
- If this card is revealed, the player must swap two face-down cards of their choice without looking at them.
- After swapping the cards, the witch card is turned face down again and left in its place.
Crows
- If the players have found two or more objects, the crow immediately steals the first object found and disappears with it (remove both cards from the game and replace the crow with a tree card).
- If the players have found fewer than two objects, the crow stays in its place and is turned face down again.
Dwarfs
- Revealed dwarfs are immediately placed in a row beneath the enchanted objects found (see the diagram).
- If all seven dwarfs are revealed before the 7 magical objects and the castle, the children lose the game.
Trees
- Each time an object, a dwarf or a crow is removed from the game, it is replaced with a tree card without an object.
- If a player reveals a tree card without an object that was previously placed to fill a gap, the player loses a turn and cannot help the others.
- The card then remains in the forest.
Castle
- As soon as the 7 magical objects have been found, the castle must be found in order to bring them there.
- If the castle is found before the 7 objects, it remains hidden in the forest.
End of the Game
As soon as there are 7 magical objects next to the magic mirror, they must be brought to the castle, revealing the castle card as well, and the children win.
If all 7 dwarfs are revealed, however, the dwarfs win.
Variants
Forest Only (Solo)
The player tries to win against the dwarfs. The game is played in the same way. Revealing a tree card without an object has no effect.
Without Help in the Forest
(players do not help one another)
The game is played in the same way, but the players do not help each other. After the seventh object has been found, whoever finds the castle wins. If the 7 dwarfs come out, they win in any case.
