NOTE: Do not force the cape open. Turn the hand on the clock only to release the cape (see Box 1 below).

Separate the 4 game pieces.
Box 1
NOTE: Don't try to force the cape open; turn the big hand on the clock only, to release the cape. Dracula's cape is made so that it will break free at the hinges if dropped or forced. To reconnect Dracula's cape, simply snap the cape hinges onto the hinge pins at the side of the figure; then push the sliding piece all the way to the right using the portion of it that protrudes through the back of Dracula; this will expose the pivot end, so the link can snap on the cape or the slot in the sliding piece (Fig. 5).
Fig. 5 shows the parts: sliding piece, link pin and hinge pin.
The Play
-
Players choose a game piece and place them on the start space.
-
The first player must judge for himself how many spaces he wants to move his game piece and announce that number for everyone to hear. You cannot land on a red space on the game board if it is already occupied.
-
Having called out a number, the player then moves the hand on the clock that number of clicks in a CLOCKWISE direction.
Note: Dracula's cape will open somewhere within one complete turn of the dial, so players must be careful when attempting big leaps through the grave yard.
-
If Dracula's cape remains closed, the player can advance the number of spaces he called.
-
If the cape opens, Dracula wants to bite your finger! That player must put his finger into Dracula's mouth while another player gently presses down the ridge behind Dracula's head (Fig. 6).
-
If Dracula does bite, he leaves two red marks and the bitten player must go back to the start.
-
Dracula does not always bite, so another player should check his opponent's finger for bite marks.
-
If a player is lucky and Dracula doesn't bite then this player does not advance but leaves his game piece where it is on the game board.
-
The cape is closed and the next player calls out a number and the game continues.
The Winner is the first player to reach the finish space.
