Aim of the Game
The winner is the player who gets all the stones of the opponent in the hollows on his side. A player also wins when the opponent has only single stones in his hollows.
Setup
- Place the game landscape between both players.
- The first and second row with 8 hollows each in front of each player are his game side.
- At the beginning two stones of each player are put in the first row, in every hollow, and two stones are put in the second row of each player, only in the four hollows on the right.
- The four left hollows of the two second rows remain empty at the beginning.
- The first player is chosen by lot.
How to Play
- The player selects one of the hollows of his side and takes all stones. Then he puts these stones one after the other clockwise in the subsequent hollows. He can only put one stone in one hollow of his side.
- If the player drops the last stone in an empty hollow, the move is finished and it is the opponent's turn.
- If the player with the last stone, however, gets to a hollow where there are already stones, he takes the last stone and all stones that are located in this hollow, and puts all the stones one by one in a clockwise direction in the subsequent hollows. This continues until he gets with the last stone to an empty hollow. If this is the case, the move is finished for the player and it is the opponent's turn.
- Only hollows containing at least two stones can be selected.
- If there is only one stone in a hollow, the stone cannot be taken and placed into the next hollow.
Special Feature: Capture on the Second Row
- If the player, who is taking a move, gets with his last stone to a full hollow on the second row, he may take all the stones of this hollow and of both opposite hollows. Then the player drops all taken stones one by one in the hollows on his side.
- Exception: If the player gets with his last stone in a filled hollow of the second row and the exactly opposing hollow (third row) is empty, no opposing stones can be removed. The player then simply removes all stones from the hollow in which the last stone was dropped, and drops the stones one by one.
How the Game Ends
- The game ends when a player has on his side only hollows with only one stone in each hollow.
- The other player, who has the highest number of stones, wins the game.
Series of Games
- If the game is played several times, the stones are counted and added as points. The player wins who, at the end of all games, has the highest number of points.
- Special feature: When a player manages to get all stones of the opponent's hollows on his side, the number of points is doubled.
