Components

  • 3 Little Pig figures
  • 1 removable Wolf figure
  • 3 house façades
  • 18 house elements: 6 straw, 6 wood and 6 brick
  • 1 plastic hill with blower*
  • 1 game board
  • 1 die
  • 1 rulebook

*The blower requires 4 LR14 alkaline 1.5V batteries (6V total), which are not included.

Each house is made of three different parts: windows, a wall and a door. Each of these parts is made of straw, wood or brick. Each element is a small card fixed inside a small square frame. The 18 elements (with their cards inside) are placed in a pile beside the board.

Goal of the Game

The winner is the player who first manages to build their house, comprising 1 door + 1 wall + 4 windows.

Each house may be built with any mix of straw, wood and brick elements.

Setup

Insert the batteries into the compartment provided (see the Batteries section).

Assemble the 6 parts of the board. Take care to match number 1 with number 1, number 2 with number 2, and so on. Place the board on a flat surface and place the Wolf's hill in the middle.

Switch the game on with the button under the hill.

Insert the Wolf's base into the circular opening at the top of the hill, making sure to respect the shape of the base.

Place the three house façades of the Little Pigs on the hill. The window sills must face outwards.

Place the 18 house elements (with their cards inside) in a pile beside the board.

Important: make sure the right cards are placed in the right frames. If a card is not in the correct frame, put it back in the correct place. The frames can be recognised by the symbol on them: the symbol for Straw, the symbol for Wood, and the symbol for Brick. (The frame symbols are pictograms on the printed sheet and are not reproduced here.)

Each player chooses a Little Pig. Each Little Pig is placed on the starting space in front of the house that has the same colour as its T-shirt.

Note: starting space 5 becomes an ordinary straw space for the rest of the game.

Three-Player Rules

The youngest player starts. Players take turns rolling the die and moving their Little Pig clockwise by the number of spaces shown on the die.

Only one Little Pig may occupy a space. If a Little Pig lands on a space that is already occupied, it continues on to the next unoccupied space.

Building the House

When a Little Pig lands on a straw, wood or brick space, the player may add one element of that material to their house. They take one from the pile beside the board and attach it to their house. Straw and wood are placed on top of the house, while brick snaps firmly into place with a click.

If a player cannot use any of the elements in the pile, or if no elements of the material shown on the space remain, that player takes no element. They therefore cannot strengthen their house, and it is the next player's turn.

A player may not take an element that is already on another player's house.

Caution: players may build their house with any mix of straw, wood and brick. However, by the end of the game the house must contain exactly 4 windows, 1 wall and 1 door! At all times during the game, the house must never have more than 4 windows, 1 wall or 1 door.

The Wolf

When a Little Pig lands on a "Wolf" space, the player must:

  1. Point the Wolf towards the house of one of the other players. (Tip: it is advisable to turn the Wolf towards the player who has the most elements on their house!)
  2. Then gently press on the back of the Wolf, turning it, and say: "Little Pig, I will huff, and I will puff, and I will puff on your house, and it will blow away!"

Any house elements that the Wolf knocked down are returned to the pile beside the board. It is now the next player's turn.

When it blows, the Wolf always knocks down straw, but never brick. As for wood, it does not always fall, because the strength of the Wolf's breath varies every time it blows!

Winning

The player who first completes their house with 1 door, 1 wall and 4 windows wins!

Two-Player Variant

Each player chooses a Little Pig and a house of the same colour. The third Little Pig and the third house are removed from the game.

The two-player rules are the same as the three-player rules, with one exception: if a player stops on one of the starting spaces, they may not only take a straw element to add to their house, but also remove a straw or wood element from their opponent's house. They must then put the element they took back into the pile beside the board.

Brick elements may not be removed from an opponent's house: brick always stays firmly fixed to the houses, since it is the strongest element.

For Older Players (Pour les plus grands)

The rules are the same, except for the straw spaces. When a Little Pig lands on a straw space, the player may choose either to take a straw element from the pile beside the board, or to take a straw element from another Little Pig's house.

On brick and wood spaces nothing changes: players take elements from the pile beside the board only.

Batteries

The blower must be fitted with batteries by an adult. Use only the recommended batteries (4 LR14 alkaline 1.5V, 6V in total, not included). Insert the batteries with the "+" and "-" signs correctly aligned. Do not mix new and used batteries, or standard (zinc-carbon) and alkaline batteries. Do not attempt to recharge batteries that are not rechargeable. Remove the batteries when the game is not used for a long period. Do not short-circuit the power terminals. If the product causes electrical interference or appears to be faulty, move it away from other electrical devices and switch it back on if necessary (turn it off and on again, or remove and replace the batteries).
