Moral
These rules bring a new dimension to the game and make officers and NCOs more interesting. There is no obligation to play with these rules but, if you want to give your games a more realistic flavour, then they are perfect for you. Troopers, we hear you!
Any unit - officers and NCOs included - that receives a Suppressed marker when further than 3 squares away from a command unit (yellow outline) also receives a Shaken marker. If it already has one, turn it over onto its Routed side. If the counter is already on that side, it receives an additional Suppressed marker.
Encouragement
At the end of the Supply phase, after removing Suppressed markers, command units (yellow outline) can encourage shaken and routed units if they are not themselves routed.
- a command unit can remove all the Shaken markers on units that have no Suppressed marker within 3 squares.
- and
- a command unit can remove a single Routed marker per turn from a unit that has no Suppressed marker within 3 squares.
A command unit that has just lost its Routed marker needs to wait until the next turn to once more encourage other units.
Shaken markers
A unit that has a Shaken marker can no longer receive Orders but can move during the Supply phase.
Enemy units ignore its Zone of Control and it can no longer control objectives or fulfil scenario victory conditions.
Game effects that are impassable to Suppressed units are also impassable to Shaken units.
A command unit that has a Shaken marker ignores its effects but cannot remove it from itself. It can still encourage units within 3 squares.
Routed markers
A unit that has a Routed marker can no longer receive Orders but can move during the Supply phase.
A Routed unit has the Fragile special ability.
If the routed unit is not in a terrain element at the end of the Supply phase, it cannot discard Suppressed markers.
Game effects that are impassable to Suppressed units are also impassable to Routed units.
A routed unit cannot take a Movement action that would take it closer to an enemy unit or would take it to a square adjacent to an objective.
Enemy units ignore its Zone of Control and it can no longer control objectives or fulfil scenario victory conditions.
A command unit that receives a Routed marker ignores its effects but cannot remove it from itself. It cannot remove Shaken and Routed markers on other units.
Sergeants (NCO)
Specialisations
If no NCO specialisation is taken, the NCO will be the one with the generic army symbol.
By choosing a NCO specialisation, you automatically choose what kind of NCO is yours (or NCOs if you've selected the Sergeant/Feldwebel +1 option).
To be able to select a NCO specialisation, you must have at least one Recruitment tile featuring an identical symbol (SS, rangers or paratroopers).
You can only have one NCO specialisation.
Paratrooper/Fallschirmjäger
Replace your NCO(s) by their paratrooper equivalent.
SS
Replace your Feldwebels by their SS equivalent.
Rangers
Replace your Sergeant(s) by their Ranger equivalent.
Sergeant +1
By choosing this option, you can select one additional Sergeant or Feldwebel. It must be the same as the one determined by the NCO specialisation.
If no NCO specialisation has been chosen, the NCO will be identical to the Recruitment tile.
