Basic Rules
It's easy: deal 10 answer cards (white) to each player.
Then, together, choose which of you is the most outrageous (zarpado) to be the starting HDP.
On their turn, the HDP takes a prompt card (black) and reads it aloud.
Each of the other players must choose one answer card from their hand and hand it face down to the HDP. The idea is to play the answer you find funniest, most absurd, most nonsensical (?) or most outrageous (bardera).
Once everyone has handed in their answer, the HDP must shuffle them and read the prompt aloud again, this time completing it with one of the answer cards. Do the same with each of the answers they were given.
Finally, the HDP chooses the one they liked most, whether because it made them laugh the most, because it was the most outrageous, or for whatever reason they feel like.
Whoever played the winning white card keeps the black card, which is worth one point.
At the end of the turn, all players draw answer cards from the deck until they have 10 again.
The next turn is the same, but the HDP will be the player to the left of the previous one. And so on...
The game is played until a player has 5 points or until you get sick of it (hasta hincharse las pelotas).
Replacing Answers
Whenever you are the HDP, you can mess with the others and make them wait while you swap your answer cards. How? Before reading the prompt card, put as many answer cards from your hand as you want to discard at the bottom of the deck and draw the same number of cards.
Words with Articles
Some cards say "Optional article". When reading out the answers, the reader chooses whether or not to read the article, according to whatever is funnier to them.
If besides being an HDP you are also ignorant, we remind you that the articles are: el, la, los, las, un, uno, una, unos, unas. If not, you can look it up on Wikipedia.
Example prompt card: "De los caballeros de la mesa redonda, mi favorito es Sir ______." (Of the knights of the round table, my favorite is Sir ______.)
Cards That Ask for More Than One Answer
Some prompts ask for more than one answer to be completed. When that happens, the HDP closes their eyes and all the other players must place their answers face up in front of them, putting them in the order in which they should be read (the one on top is read first).
Example prompt card: "Por las noches soy un superhéroe conocido como ______ y mi superpoder es ______." (At night I am a superhero known as ______ and my superpower is ______.)
Optional Rules
Easy mode: instead of 10 answer cards, everyone plays with 12 answer cards.
Starting HDP: if with the method of choosing the starting HDP mentioned above you always end up choosing the same person, here are a couple of options:
- The player with the most jerk face (cara de pajero/a). You decide what having a jerk face means.
- The one who had an orgasm least long ago.
- The last one to have taken part in a march, road blockade or demonstration, for or against whatever.
- The one who went to church, mosque, temple or synagogue least long ago.
- And if not, the one who won a game of HDP least long ago, and done.
Jeopardy: remove from the game all prompts that ask for 2 answers. All players play with 6 prompt cards (the black ones!!) in hand. Turn over one answer card. Then everyone chooses one of their prompt cards. Vote together on which is the best combination and give that person a point.
Demogracia: instead of the HDP choosing the winning card, all players vote to choose it. Nobody can choose their own. If there is a tie, each of the tied players gets a point.
