The Game
Mix the islands and the god place tiles into the existing islands and god place tiles.
Remove all the existing 5- and 6-price tiles from the game, and use the included ones instead.
Gameplay
All of the basic rules of the game still apply. If the new god place tile (Kamapua'a) is in a player's village, then the player receives (side 1) 1 fruit or (side 2) 2 fruit when the supply manager distributes resources at the end of the round. During final scoring, the tile is worth 2 (side 1) or 4 (side 2) points per Fish tile collected.
Islands
Should a player visit one of the new islands they immediately receive 1 shell, 1 foot, 1 fruit & 1 point.
Permanent Fish Tiles
If you fish one of the permanent tiles you keep it and have 2 fish every round. Replace it with a 5 or 6 tile in the bag.
2 VP Tile
Place in the first passing place in the last round.
Official German Rules Sheet
The following is a translation of the official German rules sheet ("Hawaii: Kamapua'as Gunst", Regel). It is included because it gives details the English insert does not, and because it differs from the English insert on the number of price tiles and the Kamapua'a values. The German sheet describes the 2-fruit and 4-point values as the "improved version" (verbesserte Version).
Material (German sheet)
12 new price tiles; 2 god tiles (Kamapua'a); 2 new islands; 1 marker.
The English insert says 10 new price tiles. The German sheet says 12.
Setup (German sheet)
The two god tiles are shuffled in with the existing god tiles.
The two new islands are shuffled in with the existing islands.
All 5- and all 6-price tiles of the base game are removed from the bag and placed next to the assembled game board. Then the new 5- and 6-price tiles are put into the bag.
Gameplay (German sheet)
All rules of the base game still apply.
If the new god Kamapua'a lies in a player's village, that player receives 1 fruit during resupply, or 2 fruit in the improved version. In addition, during final scoring the player receives 2 points for each new price tile they have in front of them, or 4 points in the improved version.
If a player visits one of the new islands, they receive 1 point, 1 shell, 1 foot and 1 fruit.
The 12 new price tiles are treated like normal price tiles. On the back of the new price tiles are 2 fish. If a player goes fishing and catches one or more of the new price tiles, they must immediately put the corresponding old price tiles into the bag.
Example: Green fishes a 3-fish tile and a new tile with 2 fish. On the back, this shows a 5-price tile with spears. Green takes the two fish tiles, places them in front of themselves, and throws a 5-price tile with spears from the supply next to the game board into the bag.
The new fish tiles give the player 2 fish at the end of each round. These tiles remain in front of the player until the end of the game. A player may have several of these fish tiles in front of them.
In the last round, the new marker is placed on the first place in the turn order. The player who chooses this place immediately receives 2 points, plus any further points, since this is a spear tile.
The German sheet's scoring line says "new price tile" ("Preisplättchen") where the English insert says "Fish tile". The German example text refers to the new fish tiles ("Fischplättchen"), so the English wording is kept above.
