Components

  • 20 multi-coloured cards
  • 5 monster cards: Kotzilla (Котзилла), Grozilla (Грозилла), Chirikizilla (Чирикизилла), Sprutzilla (Спрутзилла), Corgizilla (Коргизилла)
  • 5 monster figures
  • 15 Stop-Zilla tokens
  • this rules sheet

Setup

  • Shuffle the multi-coloured cards together with the monster cards. Place them face down as a fourth building pile, under the three piles from the base game, in the central zone.
  • Place the figures and tokens next to this pile.

The rules sheet shows the central zone layout: a grid of building spaces with the four piles, and the four discard piles beside it. The sheet does not name the pile that "this pile" refers to, so this is recorded as printed.

Game Turn: B. Action Phase

Players now choose between the four piles in the central zone. Each pile is used in the same way, with one exception: if the 4th pile runs out, a new pile is not formed in its place.

As soon as a player reveals a monster card:

  • They place it in front of their city, together with the monster figure that matches it. They do not place it on one of the 10 spaces inside the city.
  • The player must apply the effect shown on the card for as long as the card remains in their possession.
  • The player then continues their turn: they reveal the next card, and so on.

Example: Sasha decides to take a risk and reveals a card from the 4th pile. Oh no, Grozilla has attacked the city!

Buying: Additional Effects (step 3)

3a. If a player buys the third card of one colour into their city, they immediately take a Stop-Zilla token of the same colour, if any remain, and place it next to their supply of coins. If a player's city reaches 6 buildings of one colour, they take one more Stop-Zilla token of that colour, if any remain.

3b. If the building the player buys is the same colour as the monster in front of their city, that monster is moved. It is placed in front of the city of their left neighbour, both the card and the figure.

Stop-Zilla Tokens

Stop-Zilla tokens can be used in two ways. In both cases the token is put back in the box after use, not returned to the general supply.

  • If a player gets a monster of the same colour as a Stop-Zilla token in their supply (from the pile or from the right neighbour), that monster must immediately move to that player's left neighbour.
  • A Stop-Zilla token can be spent to buy a card. Its value is 2 coins.

Example:

a. Sasha buys the Igloo (Иглу), the third green card, so she takes a green Stop-Zilla token.

b. Because this card matches the colour of its monster, Grozilla is sent to her left neighbour. The next two players use their green Stop-Zilla tokens, so Grozilla ends up in front of the fourth player's city.

Destruction

Be careful. If there is already one monster in front of a player's city and that player gets a second monster (from the pile or from the right neighbour), the game is temporarily paused.

The monster that appeared at the city first instantly destroys one of the buildings in the city, chosen by the city's owner. The monster card and its figure are placed on top of the destroyed building. That building no longer has a name, effect or colour, and no new building can be placed in that space of the city. The monster's effect continues to apply until the end of the game.

Printed-text note: the paragraph above says the monster that appeared at the city first does the destroying. The example below has the second monster (Chirikizilla) destroying the building. Both are transcribed as printed; the wording should be checked against the English edition.

Example:

  1. Oops! Sasha already has one monster, and she has drawn another from the pile: Chirikizilla must destroy one of the buildings in her city.

  2. Sasha decides to destroy the Cottage (Коттедж), and then continues her turn.

Multi-Coloured Cards

The cards in the 4th pile are coloured in several colours. All of the colours count when scoring, with one exception: when a player acquires a special building, the multi-coloured card temporarily counts as a card of one of the colours shown on it, chosen by the player. It then counts like any other single-colour card.

Example: buying the Skate Park (Скейт-парк) lets you take the blue and orange Stop-Zilla tokens, and also the special building Parthenon (Парфенон). It does not let you take the Japanese Stone Garden (Японский сад камней).

End of Game

  • A building destroyed by a monster counts as one of the 10 buildings in the city.
  • When scoring, do not forget the effects of Chirikizilla and Kotzilla. Monsters can be either in front of the city or on one of the destroyed buildings.

Note: the individual effect text of each monster card is printed on the card itself. The rules sheet does not restate it, so it is not transcribed here.

Building Features for Expert Mode

  • Stop-Zilla tokens are not counted when calculating income (Versailles Palace and Arcade).
  • Multi-coloured cards count all of their colours, including for your opponents (Stonehenge, Machu Picchu and others), and when receiving discounts (Railway Station, Airport and Harbour).
  • A destroyed building and the monster card on top of it count as one card (Lottery Shop and Easter Island Statue).
  • Billiards: a multi-coloured card counts as one colour chosen by the player.
  • Castle: purchases made with Stop-Zilla tokens (2 coins) count.
  • Picture Gallery: has no effect if the previous building is destroyed.
  • Hot Dog Shop: is not part of the 4th pile (0–9). The parenthetical is printed as shown.
  • Statue of Liberty: if the last card is a monster card, the building in front of that monster is replaced.
