Components
- 2 double-sided boards
- 72 animal cards (18x sheep, bull, horse and pig)
- 1 start player tile

Setup
- Choose a board and place it in the centre of the table.
- Place a water tile (size 1) on each water field on the board. Note: For the first game it's advised to play with the symmetrical board (A). For board (C) and (D) extra rules apply, see Appendix: Special Rules for Boards C and D.
- Shuffle the land cards. Deal 8 land cards to each player. Players take these cards in hand. Draw 4 land cards and place these face-up next to the pile. This is part of the offer.
- Remove a number of animal cards (see table) from the game randomly.
- Shuffle the remaining animal cards. Deal 4 animal cards to each player. Players take these cards in hand. Separate the remaining animal cards into two equal face-down piles. Place one pile to the side (this pile is only needed after the first scoring) and place the other pile. Draw 4 animal cards from this pile and place them face-up next to the pile. This is also part of the offer.
- Each player chooses a player colour and receives the animal tokens and score marker of their player colour. Place the score marker of each player on the 0 space of the score track.
- Place all land tiles, all remaining water tiles, all harvest tokens and a number of haciendas (see table) in the general supply.
- Separate the money cards by value and place these in the bank.
- Each player receives 20 pesos.
- Choose a starting player. This player gets the start player tile.
Components to be removed with fewer than 5 players:

Object of the Game
The players are ranchers in Argentina. They acquire land, build haciendas, harvest and herd animals to the market to sell them. Players score points by placing tiles, connecting these in long chains, connecting them to water, building haciendas, herding animals to the market and making money. The winner is the player with the most points at the end of the game.
Gameplay
The game is played in turns. Players take turns in clockwise order. The starting player takes the first turn.
The player whose turn it is can perform up to three actions. The available actions are:
- Buy a land or animal card
- Play a land card
- Play an animal card
- Buy a water tile (max. once per turn)
- Buy a hacienda (max. once per turn)
- Harvest (max. once per turn)
Players are allowed to perform the same action multiple times unless stated otherwise above.
1. Buy a Land or Animal Card
Pay 2 pesos and take a card from the offer in hand, or pay 1 peso and take the top card of the pile with animal or land cards in hand.
After taking a face-up card from the offer, a new card is immediately drawn to refill the offer of that type to four cards. Players can have an unlimited number of cards in hand.
Example: The player decides to perform the action "buy a land or animal card" twice in his turn. First, he takes a card from the face-up offer. The offer is immediately refilled to four cards. Since there is no card in the offer the player wants, he takes a card from the face-down pile. This action costs him 3 + 2 = 5 pesos.
2. Play a Land Card
Play a land card from your hand and place a land tile in your colour on an empty field on the board matching the land type of the card (mountain, forest, swamp, rock, meadow or pampas).
Chains of at least 3 connected land tiles of your colour score 2 points per land tile during scoring.
Important! When you play a pampas card the land tile has to be placed on an empty pampas field adjacent to another land tile of your colour.
Example: Red plays a meadow card from his hand and places it on the discard pile. Then he places a land tile of his colour on an empty meadow field on the board.
3. Play an Animal Card
Play an animal card from your hand and place a token of the matching animal on an empty pampas field on the board. This token must be adjacent to a land tile of your colour or an animal token of the same animal in your player colour. If the token you just placed is adjacent to a market on the board, then you receive money directly from the bank. The amount of money is equal to the number of animal tokens of that type in your colour in the chain, plus the number of land tiles in your colour in the land chain with which it is connected.
Herding animals to the market is one of the most important ways of earning money.
Note: If you expand a chain of animal tokens and in doing so place a token adjacent to the same market, then you will again receive money for herding the animals to that market as described above. It is also possible to reach multiple markets with the same chain of animals.
Example: Black plays a sheep card from his hand and places it on the discard pile. Then he places an animal token with a sheep visible on the board. Because this token is placed adjacent to a market the player receives 5 pesos.
4. Buy a Water Tile
Pay 12 pesos and choose a water tile from the supply. Place this tile on the board. The water tile must be placed on empty pampas fields on the board.
You score 1 point for each of your tiles and tokens adjacent to water fields during scoring. Look out: water tiles you place can also provide points for other players!!
Note: The cost of each water tile is 12 pesos regardless of its size. If there are no more water tiles in the supply this action cannot be chosen.
Example: Green pays 12 pesos and places a water tile from the supply onto the board.
5. Buy a Hacienda
Pay 12 pesos and place a hacienda from the supply on an animal token or land tile of your colour on the board.
You score 1 point for each token or each tile in the chain the hacienda is on during scoring. Therefore, it is extra interesting to place a hacienda on long chains of land tiles or animal tokens.
Note: If there are no more haciendas in the supply this action cannot be chosen.
Example: Red pays 12 pesos and places a hacienda from the supply on the board on a chain of horse tokens of his colour.
6. Harvest
Place a harvest token from the supply on a land tile of your colour on the board. Receive 3 pesos for each land tile in this chain. Each chain of tiles can only have one harvest token on it. If there is already a harvest token on a tile in this chain, then it is not allowed to place another harvest token on this chain. You do not receive extra money for expanding a chain.
Note: If there are no more harvest tokens in the supply you must move a harvest token on the board. This way it is possible to place a harvest token on a chain on which a harvest token was present previously and in doing so receive money.
Example: Blue places a harvest token on their chain of 6 land tiles. He receives 6 x 3 = 18 pesos.
Scoring
When the pile with animal cards runs out and the current round is finished (the player to the right of the start player has finished their turn) a scoring will take place.
When the first pile of animal cards runs out it is immediately replaced by the pile that was set aside during setup. When the second pile of animal cards runs out it is not replaced by new animal cards. Only the land cards in the offer will be available.
Each player scores points for:
- the number of markets they reached with one or more of their animal tokens. It does not matter how many (different) animals they have adjacent to a market. The number of different markets determines the number of points:

- land tiles: 2 points for each land tile that is part of a chain of at least 3 land tiles;
- tiles and tokens adjacent to water tiles: 1 point for each animal token or land tile of their colour adjacent to the water tile. Each water tile is scored separately;
- haciendas: 1 point for each of the animal token or land tile that is part of the chain of land tiles or the same animal tokens on which the hacienda is placed;
- money: 1 point for every 10 pesos they own.
Players keep track of their score by moving their score marker on the score track.
The game ends after the second scoring. The player with the most points wins the game.
Example of Scoring
Red: Markets — Red has reached 5 markets (15 pts). Land tiles — Red has two chains with 3 or more connected tiles (size 3 and 4) (14 pts). Water tiles — Red has placed 4 tokens adjacent to the left size 1 water tile, 6 tiles and tokens adjacent to the right size 1 water tile, 6 tiles and tokens adjacent to the size 2 water tile and 1 tile adjacent to the size 3 water tile (17 pts). Haciendas — Red has placed a hacienda on his chain with 6 pig tokens (6 pts). Money — Red has 7 pesos left (0 pts). Red scores a total of 52 points.
Blue: Markets — Blue has reached 4 markets (10 pts). Land tiles — Blue has two chains with 3 or more connected tiles (size 3 and 7) (20 pts). Water tiles — Blue had placed 4 tiles and tokens adjacent to the size 2 water tile and 7 tiles and tokens adjacent to the size 3 water tile (11 pts). Haciendas — Blue has placed a hacienda on his chain with 4 pig tokens and on his chain with 7 connected land tiles (11 pts). Money — Blue has 12 pesos left (1 pt). Blue scores a total of 53 points.
Appendix: Special Rules for Boards C and D
Board C
This board is suited for 2 or 4 players. When playing with this board you can use these optional rules:
Harvest tokens. Instead of placing a harvest token on a land tile to receive money you can also use a harvest token as a neutral land tile. The following rules apply:
- You use the harvest action to place a harvest token on the board. You can place this token on any empty field (mountain, forest, swamp, rock, meadow or pampas) according to the usual rules. You do not have to play a card for this.
- A harvest token that is placed as a neutral land tile counts as a land tile for each player that has land tiles adjacent to this token.
- The harvest token counts as a neutral land tile in the colour of each player. So it can earn points during scoring and can earn money when herding animals to a market. It is possible to connect 2 chains this way to become 1 large chain.
- It is not allowed to place an animal token adjacent to a harvest token that is used as a neutral land tile if this animal is not part of a chain of animal tokens.
- If there are no more harvest tokens in the supply, you must move a harvest token (that is either used to harvest or as a neutral land tile) on the board.
- It is allowed to place a hacienda on a harvest token that is used as a neutral land tile. In this case the hacienda counts for each chain that is connected to this token. A hacienda on a harvest token prevents this token from being moved when the supply of harvest tokens runs out.
Board D
This board is suited for 2 players. When playing with this board the following rules apply:
Setup. Use only the following components:
- 38 land cards: 8x mountain, forest, swamp and meadow; 6x pampas
- 32 animal cards: 8x sheep, bull, horse and pig
- 3 harvest tokens
- 3 haciendas
- 3 water tiles (1 of each type of size 2 or larger)
At the start of the game each player receives:
- 20 pesos
- 2 pampas cards
- 2 land cards
- 2 animal cards
Gameplay. The offer only consists of 3 animal and land cards each.
Scoring. The scoring is the same as in the usual rules with the following exceptions:
- 2 points per tile adjacent to a water tile of size 1.
- 1 point for each animal token that is part of a chain of at least 3 of the same animal tokens.
- Use the following table for scoring the markets:

Variant: Immediate Scoring
In this variant there is no intermediate scoring. Do not create two separate piles of animal cards during setup.
Players receive, where applicable, points immediately after taking an action. The points are the same as in the base game. At the end of the game players receive 1 point for every 10 pesos they own.
When you reach a market you have not yet reached with an animal token of your colour before, you will immediately receive points depending on the number of markets as follows:

Remember that you only receive points for chains of land tiles of at least 3 tiles.
Note: If a player forgets to move their scoring marker it is no problem. The score of each player can always be checked by evaluating the situation on the board again.
Variant: New Market Income
In this variant the amount of pesos players receive for herding animals to a market is determined differently. When a player places an animal token adjacent to a market, they receive money equal to the number of animal tokens in their colour in the chain multiplied by the number of land tiles in their colour adjacent to this chain. So, the player does not look at the size of the chain of land tiles, but only at the number of land tiles adjacent to their chain of animal tokens.
Example: Blue has reached a market with a chain of 2 animal tokens. This chain is adjacent to 2 land tiles. Blue receives 2 x 2 = 4 pesos.
Example: Red first reached a market with 2 animal tokens (3 and 4 are not yet placed). Red receives 2 x 3 = 6 pesos. Later red places the 2 other animal tokens. When reaching the market with the fourth token the chain of animal tokens has a size of 4. Both ends are also connected to 5 land tiles. Red now receives 4 x 5 = 20 pesos.
Haciendas and water tiles now cost 20 pesos (instead of 12 pesos).
During scoring each player receives 1 point for every 20 pesos they own (instead of 10 pesos). Each player also receives 1 point per animal token in a chain of the same animals in their colour with a size of at least 3.
