Object of the Game
Be the first team to complete a lap of the board from start to finish. Players take turns drawing challenges for their team to guess. Guess correctly and you move forward towards the finish; get it wrong and you stay where you are. The catch is that you must draw while wearing the distortion glasses with the altered lenses.
Setup
- Place the board in the middle of the table.
- Place the glasses and the extra lenses next to the board.
- Shuffle the cards together and place them face down next to the board.
- Place the die and the timer so that they can be reached by all players.
- Sit next to the other members of your team around the board.
- Choose a pawn.
- Place all pawns on the starting space.
Getting Started
The team with the youngest player starts first and passes the timer to one of the other teams. The team decides which player will draw first, which player will roll the die, and which player will move the pawns.
The colour of the space on which the pawn lands, based on the number rolled on the die, determines the difficulty of the challenge and the colour of the lenses to be used.
For example, if your pawn lands on the green space, you must put the green lenses in the glasses, and your challenge will be to draw the object indicated on the card next to the green pawn.
There are also special spaces on the board:
- Choose the colour of the lenses (and the challenge of the same colour) you want to use.
- Draw with the opposite hand (the left hand for right-handed players, and the right hand for left-handed players).
- Draw without wearing the glasses.
- Skip the turn.
The drawer takes the first card from the deck and announces the category (object, entertainment, places), silently reads the challenge and reveals the time limit. The drawer places the card face down on the table so that the team cannot peek, and puts on the distortion glasses. The team holding the timer sets the time limit and the game begins! The drawer takes the pencil and the pad and draws the object indicated on the card, trying to get the players on their team to guess it before the time runs out.
Rules
- Do not speak or mime while you are drawing.
- You may not draw letters or numbers.
- You must remain seated and wear the glasses for the whole turn.
We Guessed It!
Well done. If your team guesses within the time limit, it may roll the die and move forward according to the number of spaces shown on the die, thus ending the turn.
If you finish on a special space, the content of that space applies to your next turn. For example, if you finish on a "Skip the turn" space, you will skip your next turn. If you finish on the "draw without glasses" space, your next turn you must draw without wearing the glasses. If at the start of your next turn you finish on another special space, the content of that space applies to that same turn.
Oops, We Didn't Guess It...
Too bad. The turn is over, but next time you will be luckier!
Winning the Race
Teams keep playing and tracing their way to victory. The first team to reach the finish wins. You do not need to roll the exact number of spaces to reach the finish.
