Overview

For 2-4 players, ages 4 and up. Playing time: 15 minutes.

Components

  • Three-dimensional game board made of 4 parts
  • 4 snails
  • 50 cards
  • Rules

Setup

Join all 4 parts of the game board so that they form one long vegetable patch. Each player takes a snail and places it in front of the start of the patch.

Shuffle the cards thoroughly and place the deck face down in the centre of the table. Each player takes two cards from the deck into their hand, without showing them to anyone.

Goal of the Game

The players' task is to be the last snail remaining in the patch!

Gameplay

The youngest player starts the game. Play then passes clockwise.

On your turn, you play one of your cards face up on the table. The card shows an action that is performed by the player's own snail or by an opponent's snail.

Card Meanings

  • Vegetable card: Move your snail to the next free space with the same vegetable as on the card. If your path is blocked by an opponent's snail, simply jump over the space it occupies.
  • Sleeping snail: Your snail is resting, and you skip this turn.
  • Number card without an arrow: Move your snail as many spaces as shown on the card. If your path is blocked by opponents' snails, your snail pushes them forward the necessary number of spaces.
  • Number card with an arrow: Move the slowest snail (the last one in the patch) as many spaces as shown on the card. If your path is blocked by opponents' snails, your snail pushes them forward the necessary number of spaces.

Note: if the first player begins the game by playing a number card with an arrow, they may move any snail of their choice.

You must always follow the instructions on the cards, even if they are not in your favour.

Movement Rules

  • No way back: snails can move in only one direction, from the start to the finish.
  • Only one snail may be on a space at a time.

If there are no free spaces with the required vegetable ahead of you, or if your snail is pushed out beyond the end of the patch, you are out of the game.

End of Turn

At the end of your turn, draw a card from the deck so that you again have two cards in your hand. Play passes to the next player clockwise. If there are no cards left in the deck, shuffle the played cards, form a new deck, and continue the game.

Variant for Children Aged 6 and Up

Each player starts the game with 3 cards instead of 2. All other rules remain unchanged.
