3. Game Setup

Set up the components on the table as shown in the sample layout (for 4 players). Set up in the order of Personal Setup followed by Customer Setup.

Layout areas: each player has a Personal Supply, Action Token Area, Coin Area, Dice Area and Order Card Area (Order Cards are placed above the player's Arrange cards). The table has a Customer Deck, Customer Area, Order Deck (I, II, III), Discard Area, Common Dice Area and Customer Supply.

Personal Setup

  • Choose the Player Card. Randomly deal 2 player cards face down to each player. Check what are on the cards dealt to you without revealing them to the other players, then pick one of them and place it face down in front of yourself. Remove the other card face down from the game. When everyone has chosen their player cards, flip to reveal them at the same time. Place your dice marker on the die icon in the lower left corner of your player card. Each player then takes 1 summary card.
  • Arrange Card Setup. Each player places one each of the 3 types of Arrange cards with the "LV.1" side face up in front of themselves. Line up the 3 cards to the right of your card's Dishwashing area as shown above.
  • Choose the Player Color and Set Up the Action Tokens. Each player chooses their color (Red, Blue, Yellow or Green) and receives 3 action tokens of that color with 3-4 players or 4 tokens with 2 players. Place your action tokens in your action token area.
  • First time to receive dice. Each player receives 5 dice of their color. Each time you acquire dice, roll and place them in your personal dice area. Place the remaining 4 dice of your color in your personal supply.
  • Choose the Bonus cards (by Drafting). Shuffle the Bonus cards and deal 3 cards face down to each player. Check what are on the cards dealt to you without revealing them to the other players, and pick one of them as the first card in your hand. Pass the remaining 2 cards face down to the player to your left. In the same way, pick one of the two cards passed to you as the second card in your hand. Then remove the remaining card face down from the game.
  • Use the Player's Special Ability. If a player's special ability includes the phrase "Start the game with...", apply the special ability at this moment. (E.g. With the Yuko card, flip the Arrange card to Change Dice Rolls to change it to Lv.2.) Note that other player cards' special abilities can be applied at the time indicated on each player card.
  • Determine the Start Player. The player with the lowest total of the rolls of their dice (in the Dice area) is the start player. In case of a tie, determine the start player by rock-paper-scissors or in whatever way you like. The start player places the start player marker in front of themselves.

Customer Setup

  • Customer Deck Setup. Form the Customer deck so that Customer cards can be drawn in the order of Morning, Daytime, and Night. Shuffle the Night Customer cards face down and draw a number of cards equal to the number of players to form a deck. Form the Daytime and Morning Customer decks in the same manner. Then place the Daytime deck on the Night deck, and the Morning deck on top to form the Customer deck. Place the Customer deck as shown. Remove the remaining Customer cards face down from the game. (E.g. for 4 players: Morning: 4 cards, Daytime: 4 cards, Night: 4 cards.)
  • Order Deck Setup. Shuffle each group of Order cards I, II, and III face down to form 3 Order decks and place them as shown.
  • Supply Setup. Place the coins and Time markers in the common supply near the center of the table, within everyone's reach. Roll 3 common dice (Purple) and place them in the common dice area.
  • The First Customers Arrive. Three customers arrive at the cafe. Repeat the following steps 3 times.

A Customer Arrival

  1. Draw 1 Customer card from the Customer deck and place it face up in the empty Customer area. Up to 3 Customer cards are placed in a row, but their positions make no difference.
  2. Place a Time marker with the side "2" face up above the Customer card as shown. Each Customer's remaining rounds are indicated by the number on their Time marker.
  3. Check the order on the Customer card. According to the Customer's order, draw Order cards from the corresponding Order deck and place them face up below the Customer card.

The remaining dice markers, Arrange cards, action tokens, dice, and summary cards will not be used, so remove them from the game.

4. Objective

Use dice to serve the dishes ordered by each customer so as to serve them successfully and score victory points (reputation). The player with the most VP wins the game.

5. How to Play

Repeat rounds until there are no more customers. In each round, players take turns clockwise until everyone's action tokens are used up. If there are no more Customers in the play area, immediately move on to Scoring without passing the turn to the next player.

Round structure:

  • A. Turn Procedure
    • A-1. Check if you have any action token
    • A-2. Ability Upgrade (Raise the Arrange Lv.; Increase the dice limit)
    • A-3. Perform an action (Serve a dish; Arrange; Dishwashing)
  • (Everyone's action tokens have been used up)
  • B. End of the Round
    • B-1. Customer's remaining rounds elapse
    • B-2. Collect action tokens
    • B-3. The start player moves
    • B-4. Replenish dice for the next round
    • B-5. Determine the common dice roll for the next round
  • When no more Customers are in the play area: 6. Scoring.

A. Turn Procedure

A-1. Check if you have any action token

If you have an action token, go to "A-2. Ability Upgrade". If you do not have any action token, end your turn and the turn passes to the left.

A-2. Ability Upgrade

You can Raise the Arrange Lv. and Increase Your Dice Limit in any order as much as you like.

Raise the Arrange Lv.

Check the total VP of your acquired Arrange cards and Order cards of the same color. If the total VP is 4 or more, you can raise the corresponding Arrange Lv. by paying ¥3. Flip your corresponding Arrange card to raise its Arrange Lv.

Arrange cardUpgradeConditionCoins to pay
Change Dice RollsLv.1 (x1) to Lv.2 (x2)Total of 4 VP or more of owned Order cards of the matching color¥3

Add DiceLv.1 to Lv.2 (Max)Total of 4 VP or more of owned Order cards of the matching color¥3

Increase your dice limit

You can increase the maximum number of your dice by paying coins. To do this, pay the specified coins and move the dice marker one space to the right. Then acquire 1 die. Each time you acquire a die, roll a die from your personal supply and place it in your dice area.

Dice limit5 to 66 to 77 to 88 to 9
Coins to pay¥4¥4¥6 (one ¥5 coin and one ¥1 coin)¥6 (one ¥5 coin and one ¥1 coin)

A-3. Perform an action

Perform one action: Serve a Dish, Arrange or Wash Dishes. Then end the turn and the turn passes to the player to the left. If everyone has used up action tokens at this point, proceed to "B. End of the Round".

Serve a Dish

Serve a dish to fulfill a customer's order. You can perform this action for an Order card without action tokens on it if you meet the condition for serving the dish for that Order card. You may add 1 common die for this action by paying ¥3.

Requirement to Serve the Dish:

  • Drink Order card: a number followed by "+" means a combination of dice rolls equal to or greater than the [number]. (E.g. "8+": use dice rolls adding up to 8 or more.)
  • Dessert/Food Order card: dice rolls matching those indicated. (E.g. use 3 dice rolls of "3".)

Serve the dish in the following order.

  1. Place one of your action tokens on the Order card.
  2. Use dice rolls to meet the condition for serving the dish as indicated on the Order card. Return the used dice to your personal supply. To use a common die, pay ¥3 and place the used common die in your personal supply.
  3. Acquire the coins indicated on the Order card. Note that you do not acquire the Order card at this point.
  4. If this action results in action tokens being placed on all Order cards of a customer, you have successfully served the customer. Perform the following steps.

Successfully served a customer

The players who have placed action tokens on that customer's Order cards perform Steps 4-1 and 4-2 below. Then perform Steps 4-3 through 4-5.

  • 4-1. If you have placed an action token on the customer's Order card, get that Order card (described later) and collect the action token. Return your recovered action token to your action token area. Note that recovered action tokens can be used again in the same round.
  • 4-2. If you have placed action tokens on two or more Order cards of that Customer, you get ¥2. If there is no such player, nothing happens.
  • 4-3. Discard that Customer card and return the Customer's Time marker to the common supply.
  • 4-4. Another customer arrives at the cafe. (See Customer Arrival in Game Setup.) If the customer deck is empty, such customer does not come to the cafe.
  • 4-5. If there is no Customer in the Customer area, end the game and go to "6. Scoring" without passing the turn to the next player.

If you get an Order card(s): Place your acquired Order cards in the Order Card area above the Arrange card for each Order card category, making sure the VP is visible.

Arrange

Place one of your action tokens on an Arrange card and perform the Arrange. There are 3 types of Arrange cards: Change Dice Rolls, Reroll Dice, and Add Dice.

Change Dice Rolls

  • Lv.1: You can adjust the dice result of one of your dice by +1 or -1. Note that you cannot change the die roll of a 1 by -1 or a 6 by +1.
  • Lv.2: You can perform "Lv.1" (Adjust the die result by 1) twice. You may adjust the dice result of the same or different dice in the second time.

Reroll Dice

  • Lv.1: You can reroll twice. In the first reroll, you can choose and reroll any number of dice you have. In the second reroll, you can choose and reroll any number of dice from among those you just rerolled.
  • Lv.2: You can reroll dice 4 times, and the condition for the third and subsequent rerolls is the same as for the second reroll.

Add Dice

  • Lv.1: You can add up to 3 dice to your hand, provided that you do not exceed the maximum limit. For example, if the maximum limit is 5 dice and you have 4 dice, you can only add 1 die. Each time you add a die, roll a die from your personal supply and place it in your Dice area.
  • Lv.2: You can add dice to your hand up to your dice limit. Each time you add a die, roll a die from your personal supply and place it in your Dice area.

Wash Dishes

Place one of your action tokens in the Dishwashing area on your player card and Wash Dishes. Use dice with the roll "1" (the red dot face) to get coins. The number of coins you get is determined by the number of "1" dice you use, as shown below. Return the used "1" dice to your personal supply.

Number of "1" dice usedNone123

B. End of the Round

B-1. Customer's remaining rounds elapse

For each Customer, resolve the following actions according to the remaining rounds.

  • Customer card with "2" rounds remaining: Change the remaining rounds to "1".
  • Customer card with "1" round remaining: With "0" rounds remaining, you have failed to serve the Customer. Follow the steps below.

Failure to Serve the Customer

The players who have placed action tokens on that Customer's Order cards perform Steps 1 and 2. Then perform Steps 3 through 5.

  1. If you placed any action tokens on the customer's Order cards, collect those action tokens. Return the collected action tokens to your action token area.
  2. Discard all Order cards of that Customer. Note that you cannot get any Order cards when you do this.
  3. Discard that Customer card and return the customer's Time marker to the common supply.
  4. Customers equal to the number of empty spaces in the Customer area arrive at the cafe. (See Customer Arrival in Game Setup.) If the Customer deck is empty, such Customers do not arrive at the cafe.
  5. If there is not any Customer in the Customer area, end the game and proceed to "6. Scoring".

B-2. Collect action tokens

Collect the action tokens on the Arrange cards and Dishwashing area. Return your recovered action tokens to your action token area. Be sure not to collect the action tokens on the Order cards. Thus, the owners of such tokens start the next round with fewer action tokens than other players.

B-3. The start player moves

The player with the most dice in their Dice area is the start player for the next round. In case of a tie, the player closest in clockwise order to the current start player is the start player for the next round. The start player for the next round receives the start player marker and places it in front of themselves.

B-4. Replenish dice for the next round

Each player receives dice up to their dice limit. For example, if your dice limit is 5 dice and you have 2 dice, you receive 3 dice. Each time you receive a die, roll a die from your personal supply and place it in your dice area.

B-5. Determine the rolls of the common dice for the next round

Collect all the common dice in the personal supplies and common dice area, then roll them and place them in the common dice area. Then go to "A. Turn Procedure" for the next round.

6. Scoring

Calculate the VP by the following formula, and the player with the highest VP wins the game. In case of a tie, the tied player with higher Order card points wins. If that is also a tie, the tied players share the victory.

Order Card Points + Bonus Card Points + Coin Points

Order Card Points

At the end of the game, calculate your Order card points by adding up the VP from your acquired Order cards. (E.g. the three example cards show 19 pts: 3 + 6 + 3 + 7.)

Bonus Card Points

At the end of the game, reveal from your hand the Bonus cards for which you have fulfilled the achievement conditions. Calculate your Bonus card points by adding up the VP from your revealed Bonus cards. The achievement conditions and VP from the Bonus cards are as follows.

  • VP: 4 pts. Achieved if: You have 2 or more Order Cards of the corresponding subcategory. (3 cards, one per subcategory shown with "x2+".)
  • VP: 5 pts. Achieved if: You have 1 or more Order Cards of the 2 corresponding subcategories. (3 cards.)
  • VP: 5 pts. Achieved if: You have the most Drink, Dessert or Food Order cards (including ties). (3 cards: Drink Master, Dessert Master, Food Master.)
  • VP: 5 pts. Achieved if: You have the most Order cards.
  • VP: 6 pts. Achieved if: You have 1 or more Order Cards of the 3 corresponding subcategories.
  • VP: 8 pts. Achieved if: You have 2 or more Order cards of all of Drink, Dessert and Food.

Coin Points

At the end of the game, you earn 1 Coin point per ¥4 coins you have.
