Playing Get Rich Quick

On each turn, all players select 3 Action Cards from their hand and place them face down in front of them. Once every player has selected their cards, they simultaneously flip their 3 cards face up and the Action Cards are then resolved according to their value from 1-7. Once all actions are resolved, players return their Action Cards to their hand, and a new turn begins.

Action Cards

1 – Work

By playing this card and going to work, you are guaranteed a paycheck of 1,000. It won't get you rich quick, but slow and steady worked for the tortoise!

2 – Invest in Penny Stocks

By playing this card, you choose to invest your hard-earned money in nearly worthless stocks hoping you'll find a hidden gem that not many people know about!

Pay 1,000 and earn back 3,000 if at least one other player did not play the same card.

3 – Invest in Real Estate

By playing this card, you decide to invest in a property located in a rundown neighbourhood. If you are among the first to realize the value in this soon to be gentrified part of the city, you may strike gold!

Pay 2,000 for the property and earn 6,000 back if at least 2 other players did not play the same card.

4 – Launch a Start-Up

By playing this card, you invest your money to launch a start-up company that will offer the next must-have product. You may get rich if your idea is indeed unique!

Pay 3,000 and earn back 10,000 if you were the only one to play this card.

5 – The Lottery

By playing this card, you are betting on Lady Luck to offer a helping hand.

Pay 1,000 and roll the 5 dice.

  • Win 4,000 if you rolled 3 of a kind.
  • Win 10,000 if you rolled 4 of a kind.
  • Win 30,000 if you rolled 5 of a kind!

6 – Shop!

By playing this card you have decided to use your hard-earned money to buy goods and services that may allow you to become more productive and accelerate the rate at which you can accumulate wealth or Fortune Points.

When playing the Shop! card, players can either shop at the Summit Shopping Center or buy Purchasable Action Cards. (See detailed info on next page.)

If two or more players play the Shop! card, the player with the least amount of money shops first. If multiple shoppers have the same amount of money, then they roll a die and the player that rolls the highest number, shops first.

7 – Take a Break!

By playing this card, you have chosen to take a break, wind down and watch your riches slowly grow. A little indulgence on the way never hurt anyone! This results in the accumulation of 1 Fortune Point.

Start-Up Buy-In Rule

Heading added for navigation; the source prints this as an unheaded note box beneath the Shop! card.

For Get Rich Quick Action Cards 2, 3 and 4, if a player cannot afford to pay the buy-in, his Action Card does not count. For example, in a 4-player game, if two players revealed the Launch a Start-Up card, and one of those players has only 2,000 available for the buy-in, then it is as if only one player revealed the Start-Up card. The player who could not afford the buy-in keeps their money and the player who had enough money for the buy into the Start-Up launch would get 10,000.

Since Actions Cards are played in order, money earned from, for example, the Penny Stock Investment or the Work card, can be used to pay the buy-in to Launch a Start-Up.

Shopping!

To make a purchase at the Summit Shopping Center, permanently place one of your colored Meeples on a free space on the store associated with the product, service or Fortune Points (gold section) you have selected and pay the amount required. Once all spaces for a particular store are occupied, that product/ service is no longer available for purchase.

Player may alternatively acquire, for the marked cost, one of the following Purchasable Action Cards – Work, Play the Lottery or Take a Break.

Players may only make 1 purchase per turn. Players may not purchase duplicate products, services or Fortune Points (ex: a player may not have 2 Yachts nor can they acquire 5 Fortune Points twice). They also may not buy more than one Purchasable Action Cards for each of the 3 categories (Work, Lottery, Take a Break!).

Meeples are a finite resources (each player gets 12) so spend wisely!
