The Card
The card is printed with two halves separated by a central fold line. Each half has the same layout:
- A number in a brown square at the top-left corner. This is the card's cost: the number of other cards you place face up into the clearing to play it.
- A coloured banner at the top-right corner with a tree symbol in a white circle. The banner colour is the card colour.
- A type symbol in a coloured square at the bottom-left of the name panel.
- The card name in the name panel, with a small number at its right edge showing how many of this species exist in the game.
- The illustration, with an optional bonus arrow (a coloured arrow featuring the binoculars symbol) in the lower-left of the middle panel.
- The points line at the bottom.
The card code "DP03" is printed at the top-right corner of the Wolpertinger half.
Dartmoor Racehorse (Dartmoor-Rennpferd)
- Top-left number (cost): 2. Play it by placing 2 other cards from your hand face up into the clearing.
- Top-right banner: green, with a leaf symbol in a white circle.
- Type symbol: brown hoof print, which is the cloven-hoofed animal type.
- Name panel: "Dartmoor Racehorse" (German: Dartmoor-Rennpferd), with the small number "4+1" at its right edge.
- Bonus: a green arrow featuring the binoculars symbol, whose content is the icon of a question-mark card with an arrow pointing to a moor card.
- Points line, as printed (German): "5 [acorn] – oder – 15 [acorn]" with the note "falls dein Wald die meisten Moore hat".
- English: 5 acorns – or – 15 acorns, if your forest has the most moors.
Bonus (green binoculars arrow): Put any one card from your hand face down into your forest as a universal moor. You don't need to pay for it. The bonus is activated only if you pay for the Dartmoor Racehorse with matching cards: all cards you discard as payment must have the same card colour (the same tree symbol) as the card being played, which here is green. When paying with split cards, it does not matter which half of the card shows the matching tree symbol.
Points: 5 acorns, or 15 acorns if your forest has the most moors.
Wolpertinger
- Top-left number (cost): 1. Play it by placing 1 other card from your hand face up into the clearing.
- Top-right banner: red, with a red maple-leaf symbol in a white circle.
- Type symbol: brown hoof print in the bottom-left corner of the name panel, which is the cloven-hoofed animal type.
- Name panel: "Wolpertinger", with the small number 1 at its right edge.
- Ability area: no effect and no bonus are printed.
- Points line, as printed: an acorn followed by "×", then four type icons in a 2×2 grid:
- top left: a lizard on a light grey square;
- top right: a dragonfly on a pink square;
- bottom left: a bat on a black square;
- bottom right: an insect (bug) on a green square.
- Illustration overlay: four type icons are stacked down the left side of the artwork (blue bird, yellow antlers, orange paw print, brown hoof print). The card prints no rule text for them, so they are described here only as icons.
Points: 1 acorn × [lizard], [dragonfly], [bat], [insect]. The card prints "1 acorn ×" followed by the four icons. The printed line does not spell out what the multiplier counts, so the exact scoring of this line is not transcribed as a rule here. Check the digital appendix (the QR code referenced by the Dartmoor rulebook) for the exact count.
Card Notes
- Each half is played as a split card under the Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor rules. When playing a split card, you choose one half to play and pay only the cost of that half.
- Only the Dartmoor Racehorse has a bonus. Its bonus applies only if the cards paid match the card colour (green), as described above.
- The Dartmoor Racehorse's bonus creates a universal moor from your hand. Universal moors can only be placed through effects or bonuses, as described in the Dartmoor rulebook.
- The illustrator and photo credits printed along the card art are not transcribed.
