Idea and Objective of the Game
The cards each show six colored dots in a different arrangement. Players simultaneously try to find, as fast as possible, parts on their cards whose colors match the colors of cards already lying on the table. The first player to get rid of all of their cards wins the round.
Setup
- Get ready a sheet of paper and a pencil.
- Each player chooses a set of cards of one color, shuffles it, forms it into a pile, and places it face down on the table in front of them.
- The player who has chosen the blue cards begins and places the first card of their pile face down in the middle of the table.
How to Play
- The first player turns face up the card they placed on the table, and immediately every player tries to get rid of their cards.
- Cards must be placed so that at least 2 of the dots already lying on the table are covered by matching colors. Cards may never be placed so that different colors end up on top of one another (see the example).
- The table marks the boundary of the play area: no card may extend past the edge of the table. (If you are playing on a small table, you can use fewer cards.)
- Each player may hold as many cards as they like in their hand, or lay them face up in front of themselves for a better overview. However, this must not get in the way of anyone placing cards in the middle of the table.
End of a Round
- As soon as a player has gotten rid of all of their cards, the round ends.
- The cards lying in the middle of the table are now checked to confirm they were all placed correctly.
- Players receive 2 negative points for each card they placed incorrectly. In addition, each player receives 1 negative point for each card they were unable to place in the middle of the table. Points are noted on the sheet of paper.
New Round
- Each player picks up their set of cards, shuffles it, and passes it face down to the player on their left.
- The player who now holds the blue set of cards plays first. They place the first card of their pile in the middle of the table. As soon as they turn this card face up, the new round begins.
End of the Game
- The game ends once every player has had the blue set of cards once.
- The player with the fewest negative points wins the game.
Flix Mix Mini (for 2 to 6 players, ages 6+)
- Shuffle all the cards together. Place the top card of the deck in the middle of the table. Each player receives 6 cards and forms them into a pile, placed face up on the table in front of them. Any remaining cards are not used and can be set aside.
- The youngest player takes the top card of their pile and tries to place it in the middle of the table following the rules described for the base game. If they succeed, it is the turn of the player on their left, and so on.
- If a player cannot place their card, they slide it underneath their pile. Then it is the turn of the player on their left.
- The game ends as soon as a player has gotten rid of all their cards, or when no one can get rid of any more cards.
- The player who has gotten rid of the most cards wins.
Flix Mix Junior (for 2 or more players, ages 7+)
- Shuffle all the cards and form them into a face-down pile placed on the table. Place the top card of the deck face up in the middle of the table, and place the next two cards next to the pile, face down: these will be the mission cards.
- Turn both mission cards face up at the same time. All players then simultaneously start thinking about which of the two cards can be placed in the middle of the table, following the rules described for the base game.
- The first player to find a valid spot for one of the two cards names out loud the colors they want to cover. They then place the card in the spot they found. As a reward, they place the other card face down in front of themselves. This card counts as a positive point.
- If their proposal was wrong, the player must give back one of the cards they have won (if they already have any), along with the two mission cards. They slide these cards underneath the pile.
- Two new mission cards are then turned face up, and all players start searching simultaneously again.
- If neither of the two mission cards can be placed in the middle of the table, they are slid underneath the pile and two new ones are turned up.
- As soon as a player has earned 6 positive points, the game ends.
