Contents

  • 4 fireflies (1 red, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 1 green)
  • 1 magic student
  • 30 gemstones
  • 1 die (faces: 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, and a firefly-card symbol)
  • 1 magic wand
  • 36 firefly cards
  • 1 game board
  • 1 rulebook

Game Set-up

A. Remove all the contents from inside the box.

B. After laying the game board on top of the box, stick one firefly into each of the four corner slots on the game board. Each firefly should be looking away from the center of the game board.

C. Place all the gemstones in a pile in the center of the game board.

D. Lay the magic wand and firefly cards next the box. The cards should be placed in a pile, face-down.

E. Place the magic student in starting position.

F. Before starting the game, check the color of each firefly by touching the back of each with the tip of the magic wand. All players should memorize the color of each firefly before beginning the game.

Game Play

  1. When it is your turn, first roll the die. Then move the magic student forward clockwise around the game board. Move the number of spaces indicated on the outcome of the die. Check the color of the space that you land on.

  2. Now you have one chance to find the firefly that has the same color as the space you are on. Touch the magic wand to the back of the firefly you think has the same color. Upon touching with the magic wand, a light will come out of the firefly.

  3. If the light matches the space you are on, take one gemstone. If the light does not match, do not take a gemstone.

  4. When fireflies are found they always fly to another location! If you received a gemstone on your turn, move all the fireflies you found to a different corner of the game board. When switching fireflies, you may switch with a firefly you did not touch this round.

After this, your turn ends and the next player's turn begins.

You Rolled a Card Symbol! What to Do

(The printed heading shows the firefly-card symbol from the die; it is rendered here as words.)

If you roll the firefly-card symbol on the die, do not move the magic student. Instead, you must find a group of fireflies!

  1. Draw a card from the top of the firefly card pile and find all the fireflies shown on the back of the card.

  2. You must find the group of fireflies in the order that they appear on the card, top to bottom. Touch the fireflies with the magic wand.

  3. If you correctly guess them all, take 2 gemstones! If you miss even one, you do not receive any gemstones.

[Example shown on the rulebook page: the card shows a red, a blue and a yellow firefly, numbered 1, 2 and 3 top to bottom. Printed callout: "Find them in order! Red, blue, then yellow!" Take 2 gemstones.]

Game End

  1. The game ends immediately once all the gemstones have been collected.

  2. Each player counts the number of gemstones they collected.

  3. The player with the most gemstones is the winner!

    * In case of a tie, all tied players win!
