Do two-hero campaigns get an extra skill, and can leftover gold be saved?

Yes. With two heroes each hero gets one extra level I skill worth 3 gold, and level II skills only become available later in the campaign. Players add that you start at 0 gold, so the 3 gold is not a balance you can save if left unused.
