Components
- 25 Animal Tiles
- +3 Empty Tiles (which can be used as replacements or you can draw your own version of a farm animal to use in the game)
- 2 Plastic Figures
- 2 Custom Dice
- 1 Game Board (assembled from 4 pieces)
Game Overview
Players work together trying to turn all of the tiles in the Farm face down, or help the Farmer catch the Wolf before they enter the Farm.
If the Wolf enters the Farm, then the Wolf is the winner. If every animal tile is face down or the Farmer catches the Wolf, then the players have won together and rescued the Farm! Hurray!
Game Setup
- Assemble the board from its 4 pieces in the middle of the table.
- Place the animal tiles randomly inside the board face up. Both the animals and the colors of the tiles should be visible to all players.
- The Farmer figure is placed on the Farmer space at the beginning of the board.
- The Wolf figure is placed on the Wolf space of the board.
Note: Place the board and tiles within easy reach of every player — it is recommended to place 5 rows with 5 tiles in each row.
How to Play
The youngest player goes first and gameplay proceeds clockwise. On their turn, players roll both dice and depending on the results, do the following:
Dice Results
If a player rolls a combination of dice showing both an animal and a color of a tile that is face up, they must flip this tile face down.
If a player rolls a combination that has already been placed face down, then all players work together to determine where that tile is, and flip it face up.
- If a player made the correct choice (the tile matches the dice combination), the Farmer moves one space forward.
- If a player made the wrong choice (the tile does not match the dice combination), the Wolf moves one space forward.
The final decision of the location of this tile is chosen by the player who rolled the dice. After this, place the tile back face down where it was revealed.
Special symbols on the dice allow a player to indicate any color, or any animal, depending on what is rolled. If both are rolled, a player may choose any combination of both.
For example: A player rolls their two dice and the results are: a horse, and a special side (pick any color). This player now has two choices:
- Turn one of the horse tiles face down.
- Choose one of the already face down tiles, saying it's a horse and what color it is. Once the tile has been revealed, check to see if it causes the Wolf or Farmer to move, then place it back face down in the same location.
End of the Game
When players either manage to turn all of their animal tiles face down before the Wolf enters the Farm, or if the Farmer reaches the same space where the Wolf's figure currently is, the Farm is rescued and the players win!
If the Wolf enters the Farm, and if there is at least one tile face up, the Wolf is the winner!
Variant for younger players
When playing with younger children, to make it easier for them, use this variant:
- When rolling a special symbol, players ignore it. For example: If you roll a horse and a special symbol, you can turn any horse face down or flip any horse face up, you don't need to remember its color, just that it is a horse.
- If you roll two special symbols, players can turn any animal face down, or flip any animal face up (they don't have to remember the animal or its color) and move the Farmer one space forward.
