Goal

Be the first to collect seven precious gems together with your sly goblin!

Components

  • 1 board
  • 37 trees
  • 1 giant
  • 4 goblins
  • 25 gems
  • 1 special die
  • 1 rulebook

Setup

The box is part of the game, so place the game board on it. Next, place the magic trees. Then each player chooses a goblin and rolls the die. Whoever first rolls the gem symbol on the die takes on the role of the giant. The other players each receive a goblin.

Place the giant and the goblins on the board. There should be a decent distance between the thieves and the big master (the giant).

Turn

The active player rolls the die and then, depending on what comes up, either wanders through the forest the indicated number of steps, or takes a gem.

A goblin is forbidden to jump back and forth, to hop over trees and other pieces, or to step onto a space already occupied by someone.

Sooner or later you will reach the middle of the forest, where heaps of gems sparkle. If your goblin lands on such a space, you get a gem for your collection.

The giant senses the goblins moving and also starts to move (once all the goblins have made their moves). He moves without using the die. However, it is not easy for him to squeeze through the trees, and he gets stuck here and there. Then the goblins are lucky and continue the hunt. The goblin's turn ends.

Unfortunately, one day a goblin will be caught. In that case, you swap roles with the giant. The captured goblin leaves the board, and the former giant brings his own goblin figure into play. Play passes clockwise.

End of Game

As soon as the little goblin manages to collect 7 sparkling gems, the game ends and a winner is announced!

If you play again, shake the box a little and turn it over on the table several times. The Magical Forest is now ready for a new round.

Advanced Variant

Whoever first rolls the gem symbol on the die plays as the giant. Place the giant on the board. This player also receives two shining gems and two goblins in reserve (for use when roles change).

The other player places his two goblins on any spaces. Then he rolls the die for each of them one after another and moves them the corresponding number of steps, or collects shining gems (depending on the symbol on the die).

The giant must catch both of the opponent's goblins before a role change can happen. However, he is allowed to move only once per round and to catch only one goblin. Meanwhile, the opponent keeps moving his second goblin until it is caught. The winner is the first to collect 13 sparkling gems!
