Components

  • 1 Rulebook
  • 90 Collection Cards in 9 sets, each with the values 1 to 10
  • 12 Special Cards
  • 9 Time Cards
  • 1 Starting Player Card
  • 1 Scoring Pad

Setup

  • Remove all Time Cards that are not intended for the current number of players (including the card "Variante"). Shuffle the remaining Time Cards and place them face down as the Time Deck.
  • Shuffle the Collection Cards and Special Cards together into one deck and place it face down in the middle of the play area as the Collection Deck.
  • Each player takes three cards from the Collection Deck into their hand.
  • Turn over three cards from the Collection Deck and place them face up next to the Collection Deck, forming the face-up row.
  • The player who spent the most money at the last SPIEL in Essen begins.

Game Flow

The game is played over six rounds (unlike the real SPIEL, which has only four rounds / days). Each round consists of the Research Phase, in which you "research" new collectible items and take them into your hand as cards, followed by the Collecting Phase, in which you "run around the fair" and try to bring your desired collectible items into your possession.

The length of the Collecting Phase is determined by the current Time Card. Collecting Phases therefore differ greatly in length, which gives you different tactics for collecting the items. When the Collecting Phase ends, you have only those collectible items that you secured in time.

Afterwards a new round begins. After six rounds, the collected items are scored. Sets of many items of the same kind are worth especially many points. All cards you still hold in your hand give you negative points.

The Research Phase

Going around the table, you may take either none, one or two of the face-up Collection Cards into your hand (taking all three is not allowed). Afterwards, draw cards from the Collection Deck until three of them lie face up. You may not draw directly from the deck; you may only take cards from the face-up row.

You may hold any number of cards in your hand and keep them past the end of the round. But remember that the remaining cards in your hand will give you negative points at the end of the game.

After each player has had two turns, the Research Phase ends. For the next round, new cards are already revealed now.

The Collecting Phase

At the start of the Collecting Phase, reveal the top Time Card from the Time Deck. It tells you how much time you have to collect at the fair today.

Going clockwise, each of you is in turn until you have secured your collectible items or the time for the fair day has run out.

When it is your turn, you have exactly two options:

  • Place a Collection Card in front of you.
  • Secure your Collection Cards that you have placed in front of you.

Placing a Collection Card: When you place a Collection Card in front of you, you have discovered and taken an item at the fair. Time has passed. The amount of time is shown on the Collection Card. Subtract this time from the current remaining time and announce out loud how much remaining time is left.

End of the Collecting Phase: If a Collection Card played by one of you reduces the time of the current round to exactly zero, the Collecting Phase ends. The player who brought the time to exactly zero may also secure their own Collection Cards. Everyone else who has not yet secured their cards loses them. They go onto an open discard pile next to the Collection Deck. You waited too long and the fair is now closed!

Important: You may not play cards that would bring the time below zero. Only exactly zero is allowed. If you cannot or do not want to play cards, you must secure and drop out.

The Collecting Phase also ends if nobody has brought the time to zero but everyone has dropped out.

The next Research Phase then begins if you have not yet played all six rounds. You keep your hand cards for this. The new round begins with the player who dropped out first in the Collecting Phase (that is, the player who has the Starting Player Card).

After the sixth round, scoring takes place.

Note: When the Collection Deck is used up, shuffle the discard pile to form a new deck.

Special Cards

There are three different Special Cards in the game: Queue (Warteschlange), Pre-order (Vorbestellung) and Sold Out (Ausverkauft). Played Special Cards go onto the discard pile. You may play only one Special Card per turn.

Caution: all Special Cards that you still hold in your hand at the end of the game count as negative points.

  • QUEUE (4×): Play this card together with one of your own Collection Cards. The time of the played Collection Card is doubled, so double its time value is subtracted from the current time.
  • PRE-ORDER (4×): Play this card together with one of your own Collection Cards. The time of the played Collection Card is treated as 0, so no time is subtracted from the current time.
  • SOLD OUT (4×): Play this card directly before or after your own Collection Card (that is, in addition to it). You may remove any one already played (but not yet secured) Collection Card and place it on the discard pile, either your own or one belonging to another player. The time of the removed card is added back to the current time. It does not matter whether that card was previously played together with the Queue or Pre-order Special Card.

Securing Collection Cards

Instead of placing a card, you may also secure the Collection Cards you have in front of you, that is, bring them safely "home". This way, no one can take these cards from you any more. You place them face down in front of you. This face-down stack is your collection at the end of the game and is scored.

However, the current round is now over for you. You only rejoin in the next Research Phase. If you are the first to drop out in the current round, you receive the Starting Player Card.

Notes:

  • You may drop out without having played any Collection Card beforehand.
  • You may look through your secured stack at any time.
  • You may ask other players at any time how many cards they have in hand. This question must be answered truthfully.

End of the Game

The game ends after the sixth Collecting Phase. You sort your collection, that is, all cards you secured in time, by kind.

  • First, you receive points for the values of all collected cards.
  • Then score all sets of at least three cards of one kind:
Cards345678910
Points510152025303540
  • Subtract the values of your remaining Collection Cards in hand twice as negative points.
  • Subtract 10 further points as negative points for each Special Card in your hand.

The player with the highest score wins the game. In case of a tie, the player who was able to form the largest set of cards of the same kind wins. If there is still a tie, the player who can show the most previous visits to the SPIEL wins.

Variant

At the start of the game, you may add the card "Variante" with the value 21 to the normal six Time Cards. You still play six rounds, so one card remains unused. This makes it impossible to predict, in the last round, which Time Cards are still left in the deck.
