Components

48 Eyes, 1 transport box, the rules.

Goal of the Game

Be the player who has collected the most correct pairs of Eyes.

Setup

Shuffle the 48 Eyes face down and place them in the centre of the table.

Play

The game is played simultaneously. All players try to capture as many pairs of Eyes as possible without making a mistake.

Never forget that to hunt an Eye you may use only one and the same hand!

The hunt for Eyes proceeds as follows: each player picks up an Eye, turns it over, and looks at it in secret.

Then the player has two options:

  • Put the Eye back in the same place.
  • Put it down on another Eye that is still in play, without looking at it, thereby forming a pair. This pair of Eyes is immediately captured by the player, who places it in front of them.

It is essential to be sure of yourself before capturing a pair, because mistakes are penalised with negative points at the end of the game. This is why the first option is valuable: it lets you memorise the position of the pieces before you start forming pairs.

Beware: some Eyes, although visually very close, are on closer inspection only distant cousins. Do not fall into their trap!

(The rule sheet illustrates this with two captions, "Bien !" ("Right!") showing correctly matched Eyes, and "Pas bien !" ("Not right!") showing mismatched ones.)

Also, some Eyes are present in an odd number.

End of the Game

The game ends when the players believe the remaining pieces are isolated Eyes and no further pairs can be made. The players then count their points in turn.

  • 2 points for each correct pair.
  • 1 bonus point if the player has collected 2 identical pairs.
  • Each wrong pair is penalised with 1 negative point.

The highest score wins the game.
