- 12 shot cards (3 heads, 3 torsos, 3 hands and 3 legs)
- 2 broken weapon cards
- 3 wound cards
Players: 2. Playing time: 10 min. Age: 8+.
Setup
(for each game or round)
- Set the three wound cards aside to one side. (This step is done only at the start of the game.)
- Each player receives one of the two broken weapon cards.
- Shuffle all remaining cards (the shot cards), then turn four random cards face up and place them in a row between the players.
- Deal the remaining shot cards evenly between both players.
- At the start of the game, choose the first player. In subsequent rounds, you take turns starting.
Course of Play
Remember: throughout the game you must maintain eye contact.
The game is divided into rounds, each ending with a Fire Exchange (Wymiana Ognia). The game lasts until one of the players receives a second wound.
Before starting a round, the players look at the cards they have received and arrange them in their hand in whatever way suits them. During play, players may keep their cards within sight, but they must constantly look each other in the eyes. At the same time, they should keep the playing hand as close to their body as possible.
On their turns, players perform one chosen action from the three below:
Playing a card A player chooses a card from their hand and places it face down on top of one of the four stacks. NOTE: each player, on their first turn in a new round, must play a card.
Moving a card A player takes the top, face-down card from one of the stacks and moves it. (The printed text does not name the destination; the accompanying icon shows the card being moved over from one stack to another.)
Passing the turn A player knocks twice on the table, passing the turn.
Fire Exchange
(end of round)
A Fire Exchange occurs when:
- A) both players pass their turns in turn, or
- B) one player passes the turn twice in a row.
During the Fire Exchange, each player, as quickly as possible, places their hand (the "punching" / "playing" hand) on a chosen stack on the table. If both players reach for the same stack, it goes to the player whose hand is lower; the other player is left with nothing.
The round is won by the player who inflicts greater damage on the opponent. The player who lost the round receives a wound (a wound card).
Inflicting Damage
(summary)
The summary is given as icons (card stacks, a broken weapon icon crossed out, and a gun). The icon formula is shown as printed: stacks of cards, with a crossed-out broken weapon, leads to a gun shot (see the full rules below). Then:
- A stack with more cards beats a stack with fewer cards.
- The graphic shows the sequence A > K > Q > J. Editor's note: the printed text does not explain this sequence; the full rules that follow give the hierarchy of sets (head > torso > hand > leg) and the ranking of pairs and triples. The sequence is transcribed as printed.
After the round is resolved, if the game has not ended, the players begin a new round.
Inflicting Damage (full rules)
Players reveal the stacks they have won and check their contents. (A player who won no cards does not fire.) To inflict a wound on the opponent, two conditions must both be met:
- the won stack must contain at least 2 shot cards of the same kind (the same body part), and
- the won stack must not contain a broken weapon card. If a broken weapon card is in the won stack, the weapon did not fire: the player does not fire a shot, regardless of the other cards they hold.
If only one player meets these conditions, they inflict a wound on the opponent, and the opponent draws a wound card.
If both players' stacks contain pairs or triples and nobody has a broken weapon card, the wound is inflicted by the player with the stronger set:
- a triple beats a pair (triple > pair);
- if both players have a pair, or both have a triple, the wound is inflicted by the player with the stronger cards, in the order head > torso > hand > leg.
The loser draws a wound card.
If nobody inflicted a wound, nobody receives a wound card and a new round begins.
End of Game
The game ends immediately when one of the players receives a second wound.
