How do effects that prevent Health or Sanity loss work (Grotesque Statue, Crystal of the Elder Things)?

Prevented loss never happened, so triggers that depend on losing it do not fire. Grotesque Statue protects only its owner, from one source per Clue spent. The Crystal of the Elder Things prohibits Mythos card losses even when the text says they cannot be prevented.
