What happens if an effect spawns an Epic Monster that is already on the board?

Nothing — it can't be spawned twice and keeps any damage it has. If a Zombie's Spawn Zombie Horde effect fires while the Zombie Horde is on the board, nothing happens and the Zombie isn't discarded.
